I recently fell off the bandwagon, but just one day. I was mad at myself, as usual.
But what I want to know if it's normal is, I have this habit of pretending to be someone else. In my head. I have entire lives as someone else in my head and have even spoken to people as that invented person (usually online). I even sometimes find myself responding out loud to conversations in my head. Is this really weird? I become this person often. What the heck?

I am glad it was just one day.

You seem to be moving forward already.

Yeah I know quite a few people who respond to an "internal dialogue conversation" by voicing out loud their responses.

You are certainly not alone in this.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, I appreciate that.
Oh really? Well, that's good. People were starting to look at me funny when they noticed I was talking to no one. So then I started to worry about it...

I do this, in fact I've been doing this with a new character and story for the last few days (I never stick with just one). I've never interacted with other people in real life as the person, but in my fantasy world I am that person, and that person has conversations that sometimes slip out of my mouth. You're definitely not alone.

I agree with Annaflower, it appears as though it can be a form of escapism.
