I am having a hard time fighting the urge to self-harm.
I deal with so much chronic pain and I am just tired of living this way. You'd thnk that since I am in pain, the urges wouldn't be there, but they are. I feel like self-harming, at least I have control over the pain when I don't have control over anything else. I don't know how to deal with this |

Nicole, i am sorry you are struggling right now, but kudos for hanging in there.
I know how controlling things helps me cope. That is why I use this breathing exercise to keep from focusing on those wild thoughts. Here it is. Breathe naturally while silently counting 1 on the inhale, 2 on the exhale, 3 on the inhale...continuing up to 10. Then start at 1 again. The mind can only focus well on one thing at a time, so this helps me relax and refocus. Here is an article describing some of the myths of self harm and some coping methods that may be of interest. I know this is simplistic.... but you could TRY listening to some comedy on Pandora. I find the positive distraction can be helpful.
Best wishes.

Keep fighting......is there anything else you can "control" that gives you that sense of power but is not self-destructive?
