I know i'm new here ... and i feel as though i probably haven't been really helpful to anyone ... but i was just wondering if you guys might have some ideas that you wouldn't mind sharing.

You see ... my scars are getting increasingly worse, and i dont know how much more i'm gong to be able to hide from people. Cutting is like a rush ... it makes me feel better, and odly enough when i'm done i'm almost proud of how i've been able to hurt myself (i know i'm discusting Help? ...) .... but i do want to stop. I know its not healthy... but i dont know how.

Does anyone have any tips, or things that they do instead when they feel like cutting?

I'm sorry for being such a pain, but any feedback would really help.

thanks so much
Tracy

Hi Tracy, everybody is different, so I am not sure I can help…What helps me not to cut is to work on issues in therapy. I have to keep my stress level down and deal with things as they come up. For me, cutting is a way to cope with overwhelming emotions. I have to figure out the emotions and deal with them instead of just trying to deal with the cutting itself. When I am taking care of myself, I don’t cut. I try really hard to tell people when I feel like cutting—to talk it out—to get at what I am really feeling. Make any sense?

Oh, and you are not disgusting…most definitely not. You are just struggling right now.

Hi Tracy,

Rapunzel made a good thread about that:

Things to do instead of hurting yourself

You are not disgusting, just struggling. We all do sometimes.

take care of you.
