i've heard of cutting and all but sometimes when i have a rush of every emotion ever i stab myself with pointed objects
(not knives that will make me possibly bleed to death) just like stabbing myself with a pen until i bleed. It's caused numerous scarring but most the time people will mistake it as a bug bite ect. i don't know how to explain these emotions that make me do it but im incredibly embarrased to tell my therapist, i haven't even told her i cut either. does anyone know anything about this?? could you some insight |

Self injury isn't always cutting, there are many ways, including pinching, punching, kicking, burning, starvation... What's important is to find healthier ways to work through those huge emotions, i don't cut or carve anymore, but the temptation still arises in extreme stress. One thing I found helped was when I get the urge really badly, to pick up my markers and colour in. Or draw on my own arm where i would have cut, something pretty instead of pain. I hope this helps at all *hugs*

Cutting isn't the only form of self harm, in fact it's one I haven't used (except once, very slight). Everyone has different reasons and maybe different reasons on different days. If you tell your therapist, it won't shock her and she probably won't be surprised, but she may be able to work through some of it with you if you want to. She can't support you if you don't tell. If you can't say out loud, maybe write it down and give it to her, like a letter. You can always ask for it back. If that's too hard it might be easier to draw some thing? Like a sketch or diagram? Depends how your thinking works. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
