I was wondering if there are policies or terms of service that prohibit is from saying certain things. For example, I bring to another forum where you can't say specifically how you self harm. You can say, "I injured myself", but you can't say, "I cut myself." Are there guidelines, I wouldn't want to break any rules?

Superheroine, I think as long as you don't go into gory details you are fine on this forum. Just speaking from experience, I have seen people describe what they do by saying, I cut, I burn myself, or I bruise myself...but not go into more detail than that. I sort of wish we didn't say how we SH because that part can be triggering, but I also think it's important that we be able to share the things that we are doing so we can help each other stop. There's something a lot more serious about saying I burn myself than just saying, I SH (self harm).

I've never seen anyone get in trouble for saying "I cut myself".

Maybe one of the admins can be more specific.

Hello Superheroine, welcome!

I think Seesaw gave excellent perspective as to what's "ok" and what's "not so ok" in the Self Injury forum. You may want to read a few things for yourself to get a further feel as to how to post in this forum. Start by reading the welcome post to Self Injury by DocJohn, Psych Central's founder: Welcome to the self injury room. I also recommend Use of Trigger Icon, New trigger code and
http://forums.psychcentral.com/rules...-8-2014-a.html.

If you have any questions please feel free to pm me or any member of the Community Support Team. Again, welcome!
