Hi guys, for some reason at the age of 32 I've stated SH this week. Only on two occasions and not enough to do any serious damage at all but I don't know why I've suddenly started doing this. I don't really think about anything when I doing it, I just feel the urge to hurt myself.

Are you in therapy or anything? If not you should try to get some kind of support for this before it spirals. SH can become addictive and get out of control really quickly. It's something I've struggled with for like 11.5 years now and I really wish I had got help sooner.

Hello Skyflyer: I enjoy reading about current brain research that is being done using fMRI technology. And one of the things frequently mentioned is that much more of who we are, & what we do, is controlled by areas of the brain to which we have no conscious access than we might typically imagine. Something is driving you to do what you are doing. And perhaps whatever it is, is something that resides in non-conscious areas of your brain. Under any circumstances, as HalloweenSkye said in her reply, self harm can become addictive & get out of control quickly. It's important to reach out, in real life, for help with this. I wish you well...

I'm currently waiting to hear back about an appointment for some therapy so hopefully it won't be too long. Thank you for your reply
