Why is it other people annoy me and the first thought that comes to mind is to cut. Why do I feel the need to take it out on myself?? I mean they have already managed to get to me so why must I then make it worse for myself?
It's just I don't seem to know how else to calm myself down without hurting myself in some way. I don't know if that will ever change. Not feeling at all good tonight :/ |

Hi HalloweenSkye: I was watching one of California therapist, Kati Morton's videos on YouTube a few minutes ago & she was talking about how self harm is a way of not dealing with something that's even bigger. So we have this thought (perhaps triggered by someone who annoys us for example) & because it's a thought that is really painful, as a way of not having to deal with the thought, we self harm instead. And then, to build on that idea, my thought would be that at some point resorting to self harm becomes a habit... the option of first resort. It becomes just what we do.
I'm sorry you are not feeling well... please take care... ![]()

Yeah you are probably right. I just don't know how to deal with negative emotions other than by self harming so it definitely is a habit..something I automatically go to. Tried explaining that to someone the other day...I'd told her it doesn't really help anymore so she asked me why I still do it...I just don't know what else to do and I'm always hopeful it will help again.
