This week has been so hard for me, I am dealing with so much and don't know how to deal. I can't ask for help very well! my family doesn't get it, my Best Friend tells me to come to her but she has her own problems to deal with. My boyfriend is wonderful but I can't tell him I want to cut again. He knows I use to and after I left my ex I went a while before I picked up the knife again. every time my life feels like it is spinning out of control its the first thing i reach for. i don't know what to do?

Hello ravenjade: I'm sorry you are struggling. Do you see a therapist? I think you're correct.... based on my own experience I don't believe one can rely on family or friends to help. You need a skilled mental health professional with whom you can process what is going on with you. Of course posting here on PC, or perhaps participating in some of the chats that take place here, can help too. But if that is not enough then seeking out professional help is really the way to go I believe... if that is something you can do. I wish you well...
Thanks for this!

Professional help is the way to go.

If you need a short term diversion pick up some ice cubes in you hand and hold them for as long as you can. It does very little damage. Another way is to have a totally cold shower and stay in it for as long as you can. Absolutely no hot water at all. It will make you feel very uncomfortable but will do no damage.

Maybe you can rip some magazines into shreds..... helps you to release some of the stress without hurting yourself.
Thanks for this!

I agree with using ice but I put and ice pack on my wrist and sometime that helps I agree with the other professional is probably your best option.
