It started in my late 30’s due to extreme frustration. Once I started an anti anxiety med (and off antidepressant) I never hit the lows and never did it again. Hopefully this may help someone else who struggles. If I had avoided the severe stress it may never have happened at all.

I wanted to share that for the month of December (my hardest month of the year) I had zero inclination to SI. I actually ENJOYED the holidays to its fullest for the first time in ten years! The last time I SI'd was December 23rd 2018!!!

I had an incident last night
 I stopped instantaneously, but it left the tiniest mark...no blood even...my cat has done far worse in gentle play fighting. It made me so mad after I had just told everyone how well I was doing. My bff was so supportive. She told me, "Don't apologize ever...It's okay to go through a hard time. Life isn't isn't always peaches and cream." We chatted for a while about it...I had been telling her about all the stress lately and the day's fights with my parents. The level of support from her is such a blessing. |

I saw my T today. She gave me a big smiling high five when I told her I didnt SI for the month of December and Christmas and when I told her about my slip up she shrugged and said, "but you took control and stopped after the tiniest scratch. You DID it. You overcame the motion of the SI even if you did leave a tiny mark. Be proud of yourself for that!"
