It wasn't nearly as bad as i expected it to be. She's very caring and understanding - we were talking about my being a multiple and i felt we'd go into the SI... then she went back to talking about regular dr stuff. But i thinks she's pretty intuitive and went back to talking about therapy, mood, and being a multiple. So i explained more and showed her. She never flinched, missed a beat, or changed her caring tone. She looked at them carefully, asked how they were done and how long i'd been doing it, asked if I'd told my T, and asked about medications. She's usually not one for medications, so i was surprised. but she may bring that up to my T (PMHNP).
She's been so helpful ever since I met her over the summer - I brought her a thank you card. She asked to open it while I was there (said 'they don't do this in my country' - Chile) and was very touched - her eyes misted over and she said now we're both gonna cry.
Clearly my cutting did not change her impression of me, and she said multiplicity is very common - more common than people think. She still cares about me and made sure i knew that.
I thin this is the only relationship i have really felt this cared for and i am soooo glad it is in a "professional" setting because that way it doesn't have to get messy with all the other gunk that can come up in closer relationships. I really needed this. Sometimes it makes me cry just because i don't understand all the emotions going on around being cared for.

ohh (((((((Kiya))))))))

I'm so glad that you told her and that it turned out so well. You are VERY lucky to have such a kind and compassionate dr who truly understands...

Thank you Thank you for posting this too. This gives me the courage that I need to be able to do this myself. (I'll let you know how it goes ... my appt is in a week from today).

This makes my heart warm inside just knowing that someone else was able to do this and it turned out OK.

Much love

Oy! Me too ((((((((((((((((((((((thanks all))))))))))))))))))))))
I was really really nervous. I could have never told my former dr - scared she'd totally blow it out of perspective. In fact, my current dr said she was glad i brought it up because she had a feeling something like that was happening. How she knew this, i have no idea. Maybe because she tracks my moods pretty closely.
I'm relieved to be on this side of it!!!!
=) Kiya
