My supervisor and manager know about my self harm due to going to A&E for it and taking a day off. I had an appointment with occupational health and he suggested some things I can do when things get too much. I've been offered counselling which I'm pleased about. I had the urge to hurt myself but I thought of ways to relieve it. I screamed and the second time I pulled an elastic band on my arm. I'm glad I'm not making marks on my arms. He suggested to speak to my GP but I'm worried he might prescribe anti depressants which make me hyper and numb.

Hi, Happycheeks.
It's great and super encouraging that you could find some other ways to relieve yourself without resorting to physical damaging your body.
About your GP, even if he/she prescribes you anti depressants, he/she can't force you to take them, right? I don't know, I would consider the pros and cons of speaking with the GP. Sometimes it helps me to imagine the worst case scenario (being realistic) and whether I can cope with it or no.
Good luck!

Hey hun!

I had big problems with self harm for years...like on and off for 15 or so years

Congratulations for not self harming and finding ways to manage, I found that it got easier each day that passed. If you do slip, just remember to keep moving forward!

keep up the good work!!!!!!!
