<font color="#dd0000"> I have recently been trying really hard to stop self harming, and so far I haven't cut or burnt in 2 weeks 2 weeks free . I still pick scabs or hit things sometimes, but even they are becoming less frequent.

I really need to stop, and the thing that gave me the kick up the arse was when I took my Cubs (I'm a leader in Scouting) camping; it was really hot but I always had to wear long sleeves and couldn't take part in some stuff because it would show my scars 2 weeks free .

I've got some good and bad ways of coping without SH. The good way is wearing an elastic band on my wrist and when I get an urge I ping it, hard! But on the other hand I've started to pick up smoking, I'm not a heavy smoker yet, but I'm going through 3-5 cigarettes a day.

I just really wanted to mention it someone, as my close friends don't see it as much of an achievement. But to me it is.

2 weeks is a great start... i think people close to us sometimes are so scared for us that it's hard for them to see the whole picture... and it's hard for them to understand how hard the urges get... they don't get it... snapping my wrist with a band doesn't work for me and my t counts it as si... he doesn't want me to use any form of pain... there is a great list of things to do at the top of this form... i find that running on my treadmill helps... also walking barefoot on different surfaces helps me get grounded... by focusing on what i am feeling it seems to relieve the urges...as a last resort i take hot showers... not scalding...just hot enough to redirect me... i have scalded myself... that's why i only use it as a last resort... take gentle care... lyn

(((((Deep_Thought))))))))))

Changing and lessing the ways you SH is a good step! Good job. Also, the elastic band is a great idea! I'm sorry you started smoking though... perhaps there's a way you can find a way to stop that as well?

It is an achievement, so good job. Keep us posted 2 weeks free

Well, bit of bad news. I burnt myself last night 2 weeks free

The elastic band only works for little urges, even then it's not the best, but last night I really wanted to do it.

I know we all 'relapse' sometimes, so I'm not going to let it put me off. I need to stop, summers coming and I don't have enough long sleeve T-shirts, lol.

And Christina, at the moment I can't try to stop the smoking, as it's the only thing I have that helps calm me down.

Good for you, not letting it put you off.

Okay, that's fair enough. If its helpful for you then that's okay. I hope I didn't sound bossy.
