I"m new to this forum, but not the Web site. I've been a finger nail biter almost all my life. I don't want to offend anybody, but it's good to know there are others who struggle with this, too.
Today, two of my fingers nail beds are bleeding. i hate it. I hate the pain it causes me. i get satisfaction out of biting, but not the pain.
i hope one day, I'll stop. maybe with more T and a better medication. The med is take is great, for the most part, but it isn't perfect.

Do you know why you do it at all, any sort of trigger?

I bite my fingernails down a fair bit myself and my cuticles are usually bleeding (but that could have to do with other circumstances and not intentional).

Hope you find a med that works for you. Fingers

usually it's an anxious thought, which can be about just about anything. that's something I'm working on, too. it's nice to know that somebody else out there has similar issues. it helps to know that I'm normal, and that you are too.

Yeah... my self-injury started with the anxiety problem (head picking/scratching and the nail biting)... and that took off to being after the pain... and that is where I'm at, after being 'free' of self-injury for 16 months.

Welcome to the forum, JimWriter. Fingers I don't bite my nails, but I've caught myself biting my fingers sometimes when I get nervous. Fingers

Just looked nail biting up online, and found this: http://www.onychophagia.com/ There might be something there that helps. Fingers (Looking at the "remedies" page, some of the suggestions there are quite similar to the ones for stopping hair pulling - that's what I'm trying to quit.)
