angel12,

dont be too hard on yourself, you slipped up, we do that, its human, you have learned techniques whilst you were not si to help cope - try them now - ring your counsellor if you can if the urges get too much -

look at the threads at the top of the page there are ideas on stopping Si urges - its hard i know - take care of you P7

Please don't feel like a failure about this. I know it may seem that way but as you stopped once before I hope you believe that you can stop again. This is hard stuff and not for wimps.

Is there someone you can talk to you about the feelings that led up to this, about what is going on in your life and discuss how you can manage things better.

SI'ing is a result of something else, it was your body/mind way's of telling you that you need some help. I think feeling like a failure is something that you go back to when you are hurting. It might be the underline cause of what you are doing, anything to escape that feeling.

Please keep us posted and find out if there is a professional you can speak with. I think for all of us it's kinda like 1 step forward - 2 steps back.

You are not alone...

that clicked with me - it makes sense to me - I hope things are a bit better for your angel12 - let us know how you are going P7

Angel,
I was thinking when I read this what people that are much more experienced have told me when I SI after trying to stop, which I have so many times. I want to share some of these thoughts with you.

First, I'm sorry that you are hurting, but I am so glad that you posted and let us know what is going on so that we can support you. Ok, so you SI'd, but that does not mean you are a failure or that you are not coping. It just means that you SI'd. You are the one that is going to put meaning to it and you could look at as a way that you are telling yourself that you need more support and to talk about the underlying problems. This could be a moment to hurt and to feel the awful feelings that are going on and reach out for help here and to the people in your life and realize that they care about you and will help you find different ways of getting through this.

SI'ing sucks and b/c we don't want to hurt others we take it out on ourselves. It's something deep that allows us with evidence to believe we are not enough. So, you have another opportunity to talk and realize that you coped the best way you knew how in the moment. It does not mean you will always deal with it that way, it just says that you did in this moment.

Without other people relapsing how would others know that they are not alone. So, thank you for telling me that I am not alone because I have relapsed and kept it to myself. You can get through this, SI'ing was an outward cry for help and I know it might not seem possible but turning inward might allow you to start healing those scars.

Please keep us posted -
Thanks for this!
