Teary, children think that the world revolves around them. This is natural and part of thinking development. This type of thinking makes them think that everything that happens has something to do with them (their parents divorced because of them for example). As children grow and develop this thinking matures and they stop thinking this way. All of us here, however, had stunted emotional development because of the environment that we grew up in so, therefore, many of us brought this type of thinking into adulthood. I stopped thinking this way in my late 30's. It is really liberating to not think this way. Very little that happens around me has anything to do with me and the same is for you. All sorts of things affect outcomes. The biggest thing that affects people are their own actions so your dad is responsible for his outcomes not you!

Teary, as a parent I can say that I would give up anything and everything I have for my child/children if it were necessary. They are the most precious things in the world to me, and without them everything else would have much, much less meaning. I'd much rather have them and be homeless than have a mansion without them. I'll bet your dad feels the same way.

Thinking of you and sending many good thoughts and hugs your way Don't give up. Things are never as bad as they seem. Lizzy B
