No, the title is not referring to the fact our hearing ain't what it once was. This article talks about things we all remember that we're not likely to hear again. I take exception to the turntable being included. I still have all my old LPs and I bought a turntable to play them on.

Not to be argumentative, but I still sell non-electric sharpeners. They are in a lot better shape than that one!

Silence is the thing I make a conscious effort to find a couple times a day. In the roar of this world, silence brings a peace and calm words cannot describe.

I think you have to go back a long ways to get silence. I saw a documentary on PBS that showed the noise of the thirties and forties. It was worse then than it is now in cities. When I was a kid the outdoors was pretty noisy, the sounds were more pleasant though. I'd rather here crickets, birds and other animals than someone else's phone call. I guess it's all relative.

Now come along, you know perfectly well that all those things will be reproduced over and over in period drama.

I do miss some of these sounds. Thanks for the memories. I have LPS and a turntable, too.
