Does anyone else have trouble with the weather? I had a heck of a time yesterday and then we had massive thunderstorms and a 20 degree drop in temps, etc. and I was okay again and today am great. The oppressive heat wave did a number on me I think the last 3-4 days.

Our weather has actually been cool recently with occasional periods of rain... quite comfortable actually. As I've gotten older I find that I get cold easier in the winter... I pile on the layers... & I get overheated more easily in the summer especially at night. Fortunately we have central air. But one other thing I've noticed is that when it's really hot & humid outside, & the air conditioner is running full tilt, I begin to struggle with feelings of claustrophobia. Sometimes, in the past, it has actually become quite intense & I've had to really focus to maintain my composure...

Hi Perna, what do you mean by 'trouble'...do you mean physical discomfort, or mental health problems?

I guess I was thinking of unspecific breathing problems and I like Skeezyks' bit about claustrophobia. Can't go out because the air's too "thick" and can't even have the sliding glass door open because too hot so stuck in an air conditioned apartment where the air conditioning doesn't seem enough and one feels like the world is going by without one.

I just feel physically and mentally uncomfortable.

Oh, yes. I very much relate to your post. I don't dislike the summer; I want to like it, but yes...if I'm outside the hot air is oppressive. My apartment becomes stifling if I don't turn the a/c/ on. So I sit inside in the a/c feeling chilled and disconnected from the world. It's like being inside of a box. I love when the weather is mellow so I can have the windows open. Fortunately, our nights are always cool so I can open some windows and turn fans on instead of the a/c.

I'm glad you posted this, Perna.

Have you tried an ioniser? I got one for my mum, it's worked wonders.
Thanks for this!

The weather is number one for most people in changing everything. It gets cold enough here to make it hard for some to think about going out.
When it's burning hot and still with moist air, I watch for change to trouble weather--rain, wind, tornado? Climate change is going on now.
I've been a farmer for years. Climate change makes it hard to know what to plant. I couldn't get the corn in for wet and cold, now it's wet and flooding.
And when it's hot enough to have AC on, my asthma kicks in because the air is full of pollution from all those coal-fired places that are churning out smoke and sparks.
When things change so fast, like a dropping barometer, migraine headaches are common. Mood changes for no apparent reason. Even animals act different.
Weather is not recognized as a health issue. We carry on like nothing is changing, but it is, and it would be a good idea to talk about it whenever the chance arises.
Grill your politicians relentlessly. Good luck.

The weather affects my physical woes such as fibromyalgia and arthritis--and I think emotionally I do much better with sunshine. But this hot weather we're having in North Carolina seems to be sapping my energy!
