There was a time when I could stay up until the early hours partying, but those days are done! I'll be in bed by 10:00 tonight. I hope all of you have a peaceful & healthy 2018!
Hugs from:

Thanks for this!

Likewise... it's been my experience that the new year shows up whether I'm awake to celebrate its arrival or not. So I'll sleep it in! (Hopefully...) Happy New Year!

There have been times that I, like Skeez, went to bed early and trusted the new year would come anyway. It's still exciting to me if I can stay up long enough.

I stayed up until midnight my years in Central America -- not much choice otherwise, because the pyrotechnics would have woken me up anyway. I hated them. For one thing, there was always the chance that a celebratory gunshot in the air could come down through one's roof and ceiling.
Since living back in the States, my usual practice has been to watch the ball drop in Times Square on TV, then head for bed. I reason, like Skeezyks, that eventually it's going to arrive at Central Zone, whether I stay up for it or not.

What? No one stayed up to open the front and back doors to let the old year out? Sub zero temps are no excuse!
