My mother had a lamp with lots of marbles in it, too. Must have been the style at the time!

1950's and 1960's cars . I remember seeing a 1964 Mustang when they first came out.
Thanks for this!

Have you ever seen a Corvair or Kharnin Ghia?

I've seen both! I think I even rode in a Corvair.

Anyone remember Thunderbirds? And how the gal had "fun, fun, fun until daddy took the T-bird away"?

I sure do! The Beach Boys started the California fantasy for me, living in the snowy north grinding away at school. When they resurrected the T-bird they should’ve left the wings on.

Cheerleading without terrifying gymnastics.

My sister used that stuff. I was the flower child sans makeup and razors.

I remember those Nair ads about "daring to wear short-shorts."

and early commercials about Valley Dale products--very basic, with cartoon characters in a band, with a trombone, etc.

Cast iron coal furnace. My grandparents had coal delivered into the “coal cellar” through a trapdoor on the outside of the house.

And mums conscripted kids to do the winger work. Our washer and wringer were in the basement and after the clothes went though the wringer they were lugged outside to be hung. In the winter they were hung in the basement except if it was a nice sunny day. Then they were hung outside where they froze.

I hung out many loads of clothes and then had to bring them in--and iron or fold them. Thank God for dryers and permanent press.

How about having to actually string beans after they were picked from the garden?
Thanks for this!

Oh ugh another chore I hated, the victory garden. By my parents logic kids were closer to the ground so better for us to do the weeding! Lots of strawberries got eaten tho!

Days when you could buy hand colored penny postcards for souvenirs.
Those big cement tourist attractions along hyways, like big tepees, Paul Bunions dog, or ox. A giant shoe with a restaurant in it.
