I remember all those things although I lived in the country and skates only had a square of cemented pavement by the garage so I didn't see the purpose of carrying a key. I got a pair of kids skis one Christmas and lacking any hills I claimed the garage to ski down...boy talk about your life flashing! Ha ha those were the days.

how lovely to have you join us, Hair~! yes, i remember roller skates that clamped onto hard-soled shoes~! we used to use those shoes for ice skates.... start in the snow on the bank and get a good running start, and slide when we hit the ice.... cheap thrills on the river~

Things baby boomers remember

Box Sleds~! omg,, we had a very large and steep black shale hill behind the house when i was young, and we would claim any cardboard box we could get our hands on to use to slide down that hill,,, sometimes we had to put out one foot and push, but it was a verrrry good ride~!

and then there were Coat Sleds,, for winter.... find a good steep hill and go down it once on a piece of cardboard, then when it froze in the night, lay down on your back and pick your feet up and slide down head first~! gads,,, how did we all survive ??

Things baby boomers remember

close, but no cigar,,, and then there was tobogganing in an old car hood,, being dragged up the hill behind the pick-up and then pushed off.... O.O

You are killing me!

I used to use cardboard as a sled down a really small hill in my back yard. It never occurred to me to climb onto the garage, my GOSH!!

The Winter Olympics were on that year and the man made ski slopes gave me the idea. But I only did it once, that was enough to scare me for the rest of the winter. I did climb up one summer and attach a rope to the roof so I could climb the side of the house the way batman did.......the rope broke halfway up and my breath got knocked out of me. By then my mom pretty well tolerated my stunts and told me I should have known better.
