Are air bags expensive? There must be a market for buying them.
Thanks for this!

The average cost to replace a single air bag is between $1,000 and $2,000, including parts and labor. However, the cost varies based on what air bag you're replacing and the type of vehicle you drive. You also might have to replace multiple air bags after an accident, which can multiply your costs.

Not sure if you are trying to buy or sell. This is a very high tech device and would be difficult to remove and sell. Also each model car may require different ones. @CANDC

Honda everything is coveted by scumbags. I keep telling my husband to be more cautious about his Honda, which he adores.

Funny thing, though. One night my husband couldn't sleep so he was sitting on his porch (summer night) on a chair in the dark. Just sitting there, quietly, around 2 a.m. So my husband sees a young man approach the Honda, parked in the driveway. David watched the guy snooping around the car, looking in the windows. David waited. The guy kept looking around the car. David waited. Then he stood up suddenly and rushed toward the car, yelling and waving his arms. The stupid potential thief must have about pooped his pants with fear. He took off running down the street.

I told David that was a good one

Sneaky Depression Triggers

Guess I need to find some classical music. There's a radio station that only plays that, and I might find some on my TV music channels......

Also, grief is an issue with me.

I hate generalized, blanket advice like that. NOT directed at you, dear Trav, for posting the link, but to people who write these things. Like this list works for everyone. Do these things. Follow these steps and things will be great.

And the assumptions they make: Use tech to connect with distant friends. Well I don't have any friends and I don't have the tech to do stupid Zoom or Facetime. It was like when the stupid senior center told us to pick 5 people in our lives to check in with during COVID lockdowns. I don't even have ONE person to check in with. And all those virtual classes and all those young people they keep hiring, who can't relate to us no matter how many degrees they have.

Classical music is relaxing and so is jazz. There's a classical station I listen to, mostly because it has FEW COMMERCIALS. And little holiday talk. I don't listen to it all the time though.

Grief is certainly as issue for me, and I've ran that therapy thing into the ground. They imply it's easy to get help. It isn't, especially if you're grieving. I've done it.

Agreed. These folks make assumptions that aren't true for everyone. We each have to take stock and see what does work for us. I'm not sure I want to listen to all that classical music, for example!

You certainly have a friend in me and in some others here, dear cat.

Thank you for agreeing. It seems we have to take what works for us or what we think will work, not doing it because somebody wrote an article with a list of things to do.

The music thing is a good example. If you don't like it, then you don't listen to it. Don't do it just cause they say so. Who are they? I like CLASSIC ROCK better. It brings back good memories.

I was thinking how our culture in general seems to oversimplify things. Want better sleep? Follow these 5 easy steps. Want to lose weight? See our 10 tips to follow.

Oh, dear Trav.

They also keep telling us what we seniors are supposed to be eating too. I don't like beans and won't eat them.

Police Just Issued New Warnings About Avoiding Package Theft (and Other Holiday Scams)

We have finally gotten a security system, complete with camera and a doorbell that rings when someone comes on the front porch. Plus we have dogs that bark when someone comes up in the yard. And someone's home most of the time.

I've received almost all of my Christmas-related packages, and so far so good.

This kind of theft particularly makes me mad. Shame on these folks.

Typed a long reply and it disappeared after closing this. Sigh…

I live in a crappy so called security building where people who don’t belong here get in. They steal packages and cars. It’s not unique to this building.

Frosted glass on lobby doors aren’t a deterrent either, as they thought if people walking by can’t see them, no temptation.

The sign saying 24/7 audio and video doesn’t help.

I have an old fashioned peephole. A few months ago a woman came to my door twice. I didn’t even say who is it as I have no business with anyone.Cautions for us seniors

I use many things beyond the expiration date and I’m just fine. I hate our throw-a-way society. I just finally donated a twenty five yr old shirt to the goodwill. It’s a favorite shirt of excellent quality. But it’s too small now. Nothing wrong with it, not a fad style, classic.

I consider most dates way too conservative and driven by worry of lawsuits.

True Nammu. I read expiration dates are more for the company to protect themselves, that goes for both food and medicine both over the counter and prescription. If it’s still effective or tastes/looks okay I use it. I scraped some mold off some hummus. It still tastes good and I’m still here. I also hate our throw away culture. Where is all that trash going to go? We can’t recycle everything.

15 Things You Shouldn't Buy at Gas Stations | Reader's Digest

I do like my potato chips, but I buy soda in bottles and avoid the other stuff. Yay! I always worry that what they will say cause me stress--like saying my favorite drink is a no-no. It's scary how some of these things can cause illness.

Yikes! The only thing we buy at gas stations is gas...

Yeah, pretty much all we get is gas too. There’s a kwick trip down the road they do specialize in food, so it’s safe to get food from them, but we rarely do. They are often in the papers as the best place to get fried chicken. But they’d go broke if they depended on us as we maybe go twice a year. I find the reader’s digest articles to be overly alarming and take them with a gain of salt. I get them in my email box regularly.

When I lived in Texas and regularly made the trip between Texas and Minnesota I’d pack a cooler with water, jerky, trail mix, banana chips and other healthy snacks but sometimes at a gas stop I’d buy a candy and soda 🥤 there is just something about sitting in a car for hours that calls out for junk food. Until the last few trips I’d drive it straight though with just stops for gas. But then I got too old to do twenty hours at a stretch.

I never buy food or anything from a gas station. For one thing I’m sure the prices are jacked up since it’s convenient. I wouldn’t do it unless I’m really hungry and in the middle of nowhere. But since I never go anywhere it’s not an issue.

Nammu I find a lot of those kinds of articles, whether online or not, alarming so I definitely take it with a grain of salt too. And we are bombarded with alarming headlines on the news daily.

I have way too much on my plate to worry about so don’t want to worry about what to eat, do, or think every waking hour because of some article. There’s a lot of garbage on the Internet also.

Most of it we don’t use much. But pet food is a concern. My guy demands both wet and dry food. Beer and champagne aren’t an issue at all. Bread! I’m already having trouble keeping my favorite, pumpernickel in stock. Rye too. But there seems to be plenty of the white bread.

Most of these things I don't get anyway, and I've wondered if this is a way to get people to spend a lot of money in the short term. I'm more cynical as I age....

I have noticed how much the price of English muffins have increased in just a couple of months. I'm addicted to them and other brands are just inferior. Last time they were almost out of them....The large bottles of oil last me years and I don't use it much anyway.

Since I have a small apartment sized fridge and small pantry as well, I don't have a lot of space! I'll stock up what I can but not go overboard. I'm going shopping tomorrow when the storm will let up.

Of course, since it's not as healthy for you. I haven't eaten white bread in decades.

I don't drink so don't care about beer or champagne.
