What are you all up to? I like to sleep and to complain and must like to see doctors, but otherwise I'm reading a lot and writing my third book. One book I'm reading is called Passing Strangers by Angela Hunt. She is a Christian author, but don't let that turn some of you off. Currently the plot deals with a man who takes his two children to their grandmother. He hopes he can drop them off for her to raise while he lives in a distant city, overworked as a lawyer. He's shocked when she turns him down, saying it's his job to raise his children, plus she has a life of her own. He's currently contemplating how he can get her to change his mind....

My editor says my writing is publishable. I hope so!

What's happening with you? Thanks for sharing.

Currently my main thing is looking after mum(94) and learning to deal with a house. I’ve lived in apartments my whole adult life, houses seem to always have “something “ going on. And I take care of the outdoor flowers 💐 but there’s a lawn man who deals with the lawn.

I go to the Y 3 days a week( that’s my goal anyway, 6 classes) I pass my time reading and watching TV. My current passion is thrillers, viruses, plagues and end of the world. I’m halfway though one and just picked up another.

I dabble in art classes, I’m not very good but I enjoy it immensely

I’m not adverse to Christian fiction and have read it before. That book you’re reading travel sounds pretty good. I hope the father has his eyes opened.

When I was younger I wanted to write but haven’t had any really good ideas. Hats off to you travel for having the discipline to do so.

The Skeezyks has abandoned all hobbies... to the extent I ever had any. I seldom leave home. And I don't pursue any activities. About all I do is take a l-o-n-g time getting myself cleaned up each morning for no particular reason other than that I enjoy the solitude, as well as the routine, plus it eats up a bunch of time. I do housekeeping chores as needed. Once in a while I'll cook (if necessary.) Evenings I'll watch something on TV if there's anything of interest. Currently I'm watching "Broadchurch" and "Endeavor" on our local PBS TV station. Sometimes, during the evenings, I watch free movies on YouTube. I used to like to read. But not anymore.

I found "Call The Midwife" to be surprisingly interesting.

I looooove Endeavor! My favorite character is the captain, the one with the sick wife? "Carry on, then!" He seems like such a milquetoast but he is not.

Call the Midwife is like the anti-Desperate Housewives. Or Real Housewives.

I LOVED Broadchurch, if referring to the British crime drama. (I don't know of any other but there could be)

I wasn't sure whether to post in this thread, as I have no real life or anything going on. I don't fit the stereotypical person of my age: Comfortable pension, spouse, trips, nice condo in Florida, grandkids, etc. Having financial and legal woes at the moment.

I just read mostly, some TV, go to the gym 3 times a week, book club twice a month, a walk in a walking group when it's not too hot, and sometimes this one dancercise class. I like to grow stuff but have no "green thumb", that's for sure.
No pets, family, friends, or nice neighbors. Mostly I say I focus on getting by, getting through the day.

Oh, yeah, the PBS channel is what we watch. Endeavor just started the new one. I’ve seen all the broadchurch series so I watch with only half an eye. Call the midwife has got to be one of my favorites. I miss Downton, Maggie smith was soo good. I think there’s something else that’s starting in July but I can’t recall what.

I do wish they’d put Dr Who back on PBS even if they are behind the new shows. It would give me a chance to catch up. I heard there’s another new Dr already! Midsomer is behind too so it wouldn’t be much different. I don’t mind waiting, but I do mind not getting the show at all.

I think they made a sequel to Downton Abby but haven't seen it. I kept calling it DownTOWN Abby when I first heard of it. I loved that show.

I wish they'd bring back Shetland on PBS, a Scottish crime drama, murder mysteries usually. Great scenery and cast. It ran for 5 seasons here on PBS but they haven't brought back season 6. I have to have one of those streaming things. More and more shows I want to see are doing that.

Miss Doc Martin, that was also on PBS. There's a season 9 but again it's on streaming only or I have to pay extra to get this Acorn channel. I'm not doing that, as much as I miss Doc Martin.

Some old Doctor Who episodes are on PBS, like from the original run, not the rebooted series.

Oh, yeah Shetland was good. I didn’t know there was a series 6! I don’t do streaming either, all I have is an mini iPad, that’s too small. But I have to say I’m so tempted to get paramount plus for all the Star Trek stuff, but again, to small for the captions. I don’t know how anyone can watch tv on their phone, tiny, tiny, itsy bitty

The content has to match the screen size. Like 90 Day Fianceé. The plots and personalities fit perfectly!

There was another show from down under that was just so charming! It had as its theme song a folksinger type rendition of Somewhere by Beyond the sea. I will look for it, i think i saved it somewhere.

The show was The Cafe. The singer was Kathryn Williams. The show was so offbeat and homey.

Oh there’s been a few from there and new Zealand that were good. Can’t recall the names though, ohhh one was Miss Fisher, one was about a doctor who drank a lot and solved crimes, can’t remember the others.

I loved her clothes too even if I could never wear them, I look more like her aunt than what the 20’s called for.

Oh the Cafe was good 👍 I remember thinking that it ended too soon.

Can't stand Miss Fisher, or anything about the '20s. I think it reminds me too much of my mother.

I watch the (old) All Creatures Great And Small, if it is on.

Vera. Not on now. Downbeat, but...

I don't understand that either, but it seems a lot of (mostly young) people do it. It would also use up a LOT of battery life and data. And you'd have to subscribe or pay for it, just like with streaming services on a TV or computer. Yeah you can watch on the go, but I can wait till I'm comfortable at home. World is too noisy to watch TV on a phone in public.

I have to watch TV ON a TV, not a tiny screen not much bigger than my hand. Captions on a phone ARE tiny; I've seen them on YouTube videos. And my eyes are bad enough, even with glasses.

Another show on PBS I loved was an Australian series called 800 Words. It hasn't been on in years here.

Shetland has a series 6 and 7 too I believe. You can see it in the UK or on those streaming things.....

Yeah, PBS has some great shows. Did anybody watch "Waiting for God" or the show about Hyacinth? I can't remember the name off hand.... And the "being served " one. The British humor is great.

And "All Creatures Great and Small." I love the scenery as well as the plot. And, yes, all the mysteries....

I forgot to say we're all involved with "Psych Central," now "My Support Forums." I check in several times each day and read and post. I consider you friends and look forward to being in touch with you. I especially enjoy the political discussion group.

I haven't been doing much due to COVID. My husband and I try to go out to eat as a "date" once a week. And I do have some trips planned. Hey, I have to support my "traveling lady" name!

I rarely do much cooking, and my smart pressure cooker thingie is too complicated for me to figure out. I bought a new little blender and a book about making smoothies, so I hope to try some soon.

I've purchased a whole lot of movies and TV shows, and as soon as my husband shows me how to work the player, I'll get down to business with them. I have "Downton Abbey," since I didn't watch the show when it was on as well as some sci-fi series and so on.

And I literally have hundreds of books. I've purchased even more since I volunteered to be the librarian for a group I've joined for people who are new to the city. But people stay members for years. Each meeting I bring books and puzzles for people in the group to select and borrow. I've been buying best sellers and books on subjects I think the ladies will be interested in. It's fun seeing them excited when they see a book they' really want to read. A lady who loves cat was pleased to find one about a cat, for instance.

Oh, I do shop a lot on eBay instead of going out to stores. That's where I get most of my books.

And I used to go to thrift stores a lot. I love to just see if I'll come upon a treasure, whether an item of clothing, a doo-dad, a book, or whatever. We have some great thrift stores where I live.

And I call friends I've known for years to catch up on the news. I just talked to one recently for an hour. Lots to talk about!

I have a lot of health issues that slow me down, even beyond what the meds I take for bipolar disorder do. But overall I feel very blessed.

I like the idea of our discussing what topics people bring up on this thread. That's fun.

I loved “Waiting for god”, and “are you being served”. Hyacinth irritated me, but I thought the husband was a saint. There were quite a few mysteries ones I liked that had female leads. There was another old one, summer wine? That one was great too. During covid they started showing the series from the very beginning. That was nice to see the very first episodes. Upstairs downstairs was pretty funny too. I do seem to get British humor better than I get American humor. But I did like the one, home improvement. And of course Big Bang and Young Sheldon.

A decade or more ago I had a great DVD set up and got DVDs by mail. I got to watch all the Torchwood episodes and many great British shows. And got the complete Mad Men from the library, as well as Game of thrones. I also got a lot of Japanese amie that was fun. But now we’ve no one to hook my player up to mum’s TV. So we do without. The tv is usually on though we aren’t watching it.

I also enjoyed Are you being served? British comedy is great. It's better than our humor and can be so off the wall! Also these are old but Monty Python, Benny Hill, and Only When I Laugh are others I watched/seen.

This site isn't as busy on the weekends for some reason. I used to keep refreshing the page during the day but got disappointed when there were no new posts. Right now I have the laptop from the library again, so it's easier than using my phone for sure. It seems viewing every few days is better----more new activity.

I'm in good health but that has a downside. I don't qualify for any benefits like SSI. And don't appear "deserving" of any help. I'm "not old enough" for anything and don't have a "medical condition" to qualify. Being alone, it's good to be healthy, but it's still a double-edged sword for above reasons.

I've never shopped online and don't plan to, unless I have no choice. I need to GET OUT. Only reason I won't do it now is money woes, plus I don't need more stuff. I need to get rid of stuff. When I did shop, I went to thrift stores a lot too. I found a lot of things in almost brand new condition. Done this since I was a teenager.

The library is the only place I get books, plus from the senior center. There's a lot of books members donate, for other members to take home or read on the premises. I have a couple of books on my phone that I read only when waiting somewhere, like at the dentist. This way I don't have to bring a heavy physical book.

For some reason, I can have real or "deeper" conversations with people on here than in real life. Given our times, I want to talk about deeper things too not just about the weather or some TV show. No friends to talk to in real life, they have ghosted me. One I thought was a new friend just abruptly stopped responding to me. She didn't seem like the type to do that, but alas I've been fooled before.

I liked Robin Williams in Mrs DoubtFire. He was very zany in Mork and Mindy.

I used to like Red Skelton but when I listened last on youtube it did not seem that funny.

Humor changes over the years. Now too much humor in my opinion is based on bad language or toxic situations.
