Thank you, Trav. Ooh, I'm so sorry you've hurt your shoulder. I tore my rotator cuff (shoulder) years ago, it's easy to do if you fall or even lift something too heavy (which I did). I'm mentioning it just so you're aware...I hope you haven't done that.
That's what the doc thinks. Had an MRI and will find out tomorrow. It's very painful to type...

Bad news. Big tear and I'll have surgery later this month. Honestly, I'm not sure how it happened. I fell in the tub on that side but the symptoms didn't show up until two days later. It's easy to hurt the cuff, evidently. Be careful. No heavy lifting or falling on shoulder, etc.

I'm not sure I can type at all after the surgery for a good while. Hubby is going to get me one of those computer programs that types as you speak as part of my Valentine's day present.

Hi, samicat--and welcome! Great to have you here.

Yes, I'll take some tea, please. And it sounds like a nice gift for a thoughtful neighbor.

Ooo, that doesn’t sound good. But I’m a firm believer in the miracle of surgery. I’ve had surgery a few times and in every case it was an improvement. Especially my back, I delayed surgery 3-4 years but the moment I came out of anesthesia I knew it was successful. I didn’t need the opioids any more. It was great. May your surgery go as smoothly travelinglady. The computer program sounds like a winner!

No tea for me, thank you. I’m sticking with water right now. I have an appointment to give blood at 2. I’ve found out the hard way that it really is good to be fed and hydrated. So I drink 3-4 bottles of water before I go in. They really need the blood. The giving donors are aging out. In all my years of donations I’ve never seen an 20 year old. The youngest are usually in the 40’s. That’s really a shame. Of course they may go at other times of day. Most of my appointments are around 2pm.

Ooh, @Travelinglady, I'm so sorry to hear that. Darn. Yes, the cuffs are like knees...oddly vulnerable for the amount of use they get, and extremely easy to injure or tear.

I'm with Nammu, though, on the miracle of surgery. I had a tear in my right Achilles and the pain was vicious. I foolishly waited until I couldn't even drive to get it taken care of because I thought I could tough it out. When I finally had surgery I, like Nammu, knew immediately that the pain was gone. But now my left Achilles is starting to hurt. Ugh.

I hope they schedule you soon.

Traveling lady I had no idea you were planning surgery! I haven’t been checking this thread. Is it shoulder replacement?

She cannot type without pain. She tore her rotator cuff.

I forgot to say; when I gave blood the other day there was a 20 yr old there! Yay! The blood doner site was at the Y which may have helped. The others I saw were 50’s-60’s. My next site is a church again. I wanted to go to hormel s corporate office but that one was too early. Darn. Would have been interesting.

Mum’s back in the hospital but might be discharged tomorrow. Arranged for the social worker to arrange the same transportation as last time. Was very efficient and nice. Just wheeled mum up into the van, and had the home transfer her and took the wheelchair back to the hospital. Let’s hope this is the last time she’s in the hospital for a long while. Hopefully now she’ll be able to concentrate on her rehab and come home soon.

My son (34) and DIL (32) regularly donate blood. What was at the Hormel's corporate office @Nammu?

I hope your mum gets a respite from illness, finally.

It’s just a very modern building that would be cool to see up close. They do cancer research and science.

My brother-in-law died today. Two days ago he was okay. Then yesterday a blood clot, lung problems--today dead. He was 69.

This will be my last post until I heal from surgery. It's too painful to type without crying, You all take care, keep safe. I'll miss you for awhile.

Note: Did you see where Nammu's mom passed on?

I'll leave with a smile. Think good thoughts until then.
