Lately when I'm having a strong rush of fear, I also become sexually aroused. Has anyone else had that experience? It's quite disconcerting.

No, I have not...and I am afraid of everything. Not to make light of your situation, but this sounds interesting. I take it the fear itself doesn't have to do with anything sexual?

I'm remembering when I was in 6th grade and I was out playing on the bars and I was late getting back to class. I was really afraid being late and then, not knowing what I was experiencing, I had a spontaneous orgasm. I had no idea until years later that that is what it was. I knew nothing at all about sex at that time. Those long years ago were much more conservative with media - we didn't get the onslaught of sexual messages like what happens these days. |

Hi skysblue,
I experience this sometimes as well. I think it's because there are a lot of similarities between fear and sexual arousal. Like release of adrenalin, your breathing gets faster, pupils dilate, increased blood flow etc. I'm not entirely sure about why, but i know it has something to do with activation of the sympathetic nervous system (the one that induces the fight or flight response) i've had similar experiences when i've been worrying about an exam, so i think it's pretty normal. although potentially awkward if it happened during an exam ![]() |

Oh, I see what you mean....yes, I have had that sometimes (I thought you meant the sensations from the anxiety were exclusively in that area.) I think it's just because that area has a ton of nerve endings (especially women), so that energy/blood just rushes everywhere involuntarily.

That is so true. Sometimes when I've been in life threatening situations I found out I was surviving with an erection and afterward had to find some relief. How do we find out more about this. I thought i was a weirdo

How interesting. Maybe that's why I get aroused during therapy? I've noticed it happening less now that I am a lot more relaxed with my T than I used to be, though.
