I was just talking a long look at how far I have come personally in the 6 months or less I've been here at Psych Central. This forum has been so helpful. I am 38. I have never talked about sex except to one close friend and she knows more about me then my H.

It is a huge relief to know that my prefrences are normal or if not normal OK. Porn, oral, toys, not something I would EVER EVER EVER mention prior to finding PC.

I've learned human sexuality is something to embrace. We all have stuff we can share and we can help others. It is most validating. Before finding PC sex was a dirty secret. It was just something you did in privite and don't dare to speak of. It was forbidden to talk about. Even sex after abuse and rape OMG what a subject. There are people here who now no more then my H. I think I have alot to fill him in on w/ the help of my T someday.

Thank you all, the people who respond, the people who gives answers I see as correct and those I don't agree w/ to. We all have opinions and need a chance to learn and grow. Most importantly none of this would be possible if it weren't for the folks who made Psych Central. There are alot of Psychological items here at PC but human sexuality I never thought would quilify as one. Now I wee why It does.

Wow. I think I should switch to taking my meds at night or I'm having a happy manic moment. Hope the fall from manic is not to soon, I rather enjoy manic happyness)

You yourself are wonderfully generous with your advice on this forum. You are a giver much more than a taker, in my opinion.
Thanks for this!

I'm so glad you're here, Big Mama (and Hamster, too!). I truly enjoy reading your posts and having these fun conversations.

I got past sex embarrassment mostly in my teens. I took it upon myself to read whatever I could about sex, watch talk shows about sex and explore (without actually doing it with a partner...that happened the day before my 23rd birthday), and I learned there are all kinds out there, nothing to be ashamed of admitting it (except if it violates a child, animal, or someone who can't consent). I think the biggest hurdle I had was openly admitting I masturbated. I was embarrassed the first few times, but I wouldn't let myself chicken out if the topic came up, and now I'm perfectly comfortable admitting I masturbate! Problem is, I'm very comfortable talking about sex and other embarrassing topics, and sometimes people don't know what to make of me. They're trying to whisper about things I shout! LOL!

I really echo your sentiments. My introduction to sex as a teenager was brutal, then shallow and superficial. I have now begun to embrace sex as a beautiful gift from God, to be treasured and enjoyed with the man I love.
