Truth be told: The majority of men who insist they do not prefer women with makeup...ARE HYPOCRITES. Why does your head turn to look at other women with makeup on? Why do you place more value on women whose looks are "Retouched"? This places an impossible standard on REAL women. First, we're not pretty enough without makeup. Then we wear it, due to low self esteem, and we get told we're fake or not as good because we have conformed to the world we were born into. Its a double edged sword. As a woman, I find that I am treated much better by women and men when I wear makeup and pay attention to my appearance. I WISH I COULD SAY THE OPPOSITE WAS TRUE, but that is simply not the case.

women get "ugly" or "less attractive", men get "character" as their faces age... when young, i was "seen" and responded to. now, i often feel invisible. (i never did wear make up---tried about three times---but this society has us so brainwashed, i find myself wondering if i should have some cosmetic genius buff me up---bull. it is all sexist ********) and lightbulb7 is right, they say they like natural but turn their heads to dwell on pretty facades. (yes. there are a Few exceptions, but they are exceptional)

Been lookin at this thread; as it seems to be all the rage to see what others opinions are on this topic. So many pages...and you have a poll?
I don't vote. (bad me!) I don't wear make-up. I am female. I am "older." I see what make-up (full foundation, etc.) is doing to my 36 year old daughter's complexion...her skin is aging more rapidly than mine? Frightening. I I I I I vote "NO"-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ cepting for a bit of blush in the winter months, lip gloss... a bit of liner to go out at night.......beyond that? I try to Make up my face in a smile? ![]() and when I am not in the mood to smile? I make up my face in an ugly scowl? ![]() ![]() ![]() This is lots of fun........but, you'd have ta see how dreadfully oddly REAL I look to realize it ![]() |

I read that many employers when interviewing think if woman is not wearing mascara it could be that she's a constantly crying wreck who cannot keep make up on. I would never to go interview without "decent" make up on. I might as well not go. Then again, I mostly happen to go to corporate places. (apparently, I am still doing something wrong). (apparently, being too tan is bad too, cause you... I guess in this time people aren't supposed to be in sun so often, unless they are lazy and take mid-day siestas). Quote:
When i am dressed up and made up... I get treated better. Even when I go to bank or something, to store. When I am on my lazy day... not that much.

This thread has been quite interesting (and partially shocking) to read. I never realized how important make-up was in the context of getting a job or getting treated better. It's very sad that we seem to be living in a society which puts so much pressure on women to look impeccable.
When I read about not wearing make-up being considered a sign of poor hygiene it made me sick. I would even go as far as say that it borders on intrusion of one's right of self determination. It's true that a company is allowed to set up some rules regarding dress code and grooming but to me it appears intrusive to require someone to wear make-up. I find make-up unnecessary for many jobs. I can understand that working in client service, corporate etc. usually means you need to look put together, since you are representing a company. For women that often means doing the hair and applying some make-up. Similarly, men are supposed to wear ties, certain clothes/shoes or some status symbols like watches. But being turned down at the interview for not wearing make up is just ridiculous. I can only talk for myself. I used to wear discreet make-up when I was at work and for some special events. A lot of make up for nights out and carnival ((: Spring and Summer months are mostly make-up free months, because I don't like feeling make-up melting on my face..or looking like a panda bear when I go swimming at the beach. So far I never felt treated better on days I walked around with make-up, compared to make-up free days. My attitude always was that if I don't have an insecurity walking around without make-up then others won't have a problem with it either. But I have to say after reading the comments on this thread I feel very lucky I didn't make such bad experiences. The only change in treatment I noticed (occasionally) was based on how I acted toward others. If I was distant or in a crappy mood people probably picked up on that and treated me accordingly. People seemed to treat me better if I happened to be more outgoing. Also whenever I was in a good mood / smiled a lot. With boyfriends looking at other women who might or might not have make-up on..I'm not even so sure if guys look at other girls bc they look prettier with more make up on. We women tend to compare ourselves to other women a lot. There is no point doing that since we can't change our faces anyhow and there are always going to be younger/prettier women. Inner beauty will remain though (if you cultivate it). Men look at other women because..why shouldn't they look? It's free and it's a healthy instinct reaction. : ) At the end of the day they come home with their woman. : ) Last edited by Anonymous33170; Jun 13, 2013 at 08:48 AM. |

Eh, maybe it's because there's other things about the women they find attractive, despite them wearing make up. Why do you place more value on women whose looks are "Retouched"? So you've conducted a survey and asked every man on the planet and that's the conclusion? Or are you really just ranting and blaming men because you're insecure about your own looks? |

I don't care what anyone else thinks, but I'd rather not hang out with people wearing makeup. The face is what shows how you feel and such, and if you paint it, at least to me, it looks like you're hiding something. Plus to me it look scary and bizarre.
I know it is an unusual take on things. People decide what they do but I decide whom I hang out with.

I started in America and went door to door. The men first would not open the doors because of the hideous nature of my appearance (I wasn't wearing makeup) and I encountered slammed shut door after slammed shut door. It was baffling to me! I wondered, "How can I get these blasted men to open the doors and give me a chance, just one blasted chance to know...know deep down in my soul whether or not makeup is important or not. How will I be able to rest in peace when I am old...however will I go to my grave in solace?!" Then I sat down on the side of the road crying and eating a bag of cheetos all alone. Then it dawned on me...."What if I test out my bloody theory and see what happens? My fingers are already orange and all and what do I really have to lose. Lightbulb7Seven...think!" A LIGHTBULB went off and VOILA!!! It occurred to me what I must surely do...I will flippin' put on this disgusting damned makeup and see what happens! Then someday if I ever encounter this very question I may in some small way, have my existence count for something. It's all I have to live for. I was born to find this out. I decided it was worth a shot. So I painted myself up like a Spice girl and John Candy said, "Hey baby, front of the bus for you sweet thang" and Steve Martin said, "Why, hello there darling, have you been on this plane before?" And I exclaimed, "I've been flippin' traveling with you for months you idiots!" They hadn't noticed. Alas, the doors were swinging open as I didn't even have to knock anymore. The men were pouring me coffee and telling me how smart I was, although I hadn't said one flippin' intelligent thing all night. All I did was bat an eye and sat there and looked pretty. It worked. Then I went home and chronicled my findings. So to answer your question, yes, I did poll every man on the planet. Satisfied? ![]() Here's me with no makeup on....would you trust me to do brain surgery on you? lol ![]() Last edited by Anonymous200777; Jun 14, 2013 at 01:56 AM. Reason: added photo lol |

Just proving that your pale blue eyes stood out more, and your natural skin complexion was able to shine through.
The only one thing I'd change on that picture is a genuine eye sparkling smile :P Thanks for travelling around the world to do that reseaarch ![]() |

Well when you set out to deliberately make yourself look unattractive by pulling faces you're going to get the results you're looking for. I can make my face look like the Joker from Batman, and then ask a bunch of women if they find me attractive. I wonder what their answer would be. Also if that's you in your avatar ( I can't be sure if it is ), then no you don't look better with make up. I prefer the picture of you above. But I'm probably lying about this though, to make some random women on the internet who I don't care about feel better about herself. Last edited by Anonymous200125; Jun 14, 2013 at 10:25 AM. |

I'm assuming the associated thought process was probably relating to some types of makeups can stop the skin being able to breathe and clog pours leading to "zits". Additionally wearing different layers of makeup on different parts of the face couldn't that lead to inconsistent tanning levels resulting in an underlying blotchy appearance? I am admittedly a guy, so please don't crucify me if I'm wrong ![]() |

also... make-up doesn't clog pores, ffs. I remove mine in the evening. Now all the men here gotten cosmetiology certificate somewhere. I won't say where they pulled it from. My skin is actually mostly kinda nice and I hardly ever use full cover up. I guess next thing you guys gonna tell is that my eyelashes are invisible because I use mascara and it eats the pigment or something. In my part of world, we have attractive chicks, but we need to bring up our features. Pale skin and invisible eyelashes is one of the misfortunate features of my genetic make up (no pun intended).

I don't pretend to be an expert in make up. But I do know the odd times I've tried to moisturise my own face, I come up in with odd zit which is why I don't do it often. Also just doing a quick google search and one of the common side effects of make up is clogged pores.

I just don't like the attitude of some of the women on here who are having a go at men, when there's no reason for it. It was a simple question aimed at men if they prefer a woman with or without make up. When many of the men said they didn't, they were more or less accused of being liars and hypocrites. A few other subtle sexist remarks also. |
