So sue me. Came down with a treatable STD. Still worried about long term complications. Guess I learned a lesson, don't put penises in there. Not like that anyway. Now I'm wondering if I can have children. Ever. I'm extremely depressed.

Yikes, I'm glad it's treatable though. The scary part is that it's not like it takes daily gangbangs to catch an STD. My daughter was only with her second boyfriend when she got herpes.

So from now on, please be careful and make sure they wrap it up.

Frightening. Truly frightening. I would always give them condoms and they would take them off. Bastards. At least I don't have herpes. I'm gonna be celibate for a long while.

Get vaccinated, if you have not already done so. HPV, Hep A and Hep B are all STI's. It takes 6 months to get immunity in a series of three shots. And, the area that can transmit HPV is NOT fully covered by condoms, which is yet another reason to get vaccinated against HPV (there are two vaccines; the one I am getting is Gardasil).

You are so young - these shots should be covered by your insurance. Make sure you have done them all - you will feel better doing something to protect yourself, and not just ruminate and pledge long term celibacy.

Yes, it is frightening and yes, they were bastards. no condoms, no sex, sorry, but no excuses.

Good advice. I know I had some hand in this. I am taking antibiotics now.

When the infection clears, would that be all? no threats to long-term fertility?

Is there a reliable vaccine for Hep A? Is it available in the US? My college has never mentioned it, although all students are required to be vaccinated for Hep B (and HPV is strongly recommended). I'm thinking of getting Gardasil soon.

I (in California) am getting the shots of Twinrix, which is a combination vaccine against both Hep A and Hep B. I have to pay out of pocket, and the combination is cheaper than getting individual shots separately.

Both Twinrix and Gardasil require a 6 month period before you are immune, so once you have made up your mind, you should act and not wait. There is the first shot, the second one month later, and the third/last 6 months after the first one.

Is the avatar a picture of you? It looks like it, but since some people make pictures of others their avatars, i thought i'd ask.
