I'm only taking this advice with a grain of salt, it's something I need to hear from an actual guy in person, but I had my first sexual encounter yesterday and one thing has been bothering me all day today: he smelled down there. I know that all girls smell but I have no idea whether or not boys smell as well. And, I have no idea what guys are suppose to smell like down there and what a good or bad smell is supposed to smell like. I'm not sure if I should get tested or if this is no big deal.

Grats bud! lol At least the ball is rolling for one of us!

To answer your question...it depends a little. If he's been active that day or if it's later in the evening, a little...er...musk...isn't entirely unreasonable. If he's been working strenuous labor, I'd be shocked if it wasn't a little musky. It shouldn't, however, be completely overwhelming or anything. That's...lol really general I know, but it's the best I've got, even as a guy.

I prefer hubby to shower first. Infact I will no longer go down unless he does. As far as females go, I try to wash up if I know if we are going to be together. I feel its the right thing to do.

Depends on the time of day and his level of activity. I think the accumulation of urinary events over a day will lead to a musty odour, but this should be mild.

Does he have conditions such as jock itch? That can cause smells. It's basically like toe jam, but in the crotch region.

Also, if he has opened his bowels at some stage he might be emanating smells from that area too.

Good luck

Sorry this happened to you Skip. Some guys are just knuckleheads.

Better safe than sorry as far as testing is concerned. There's a lesson to be learned here about condom use as well but I'm sure you've learned that the hard way.

Yes. Guys will be smelly for all the reasons listed above. Plus, if he's uncircumcised, and not taking care to wash before-hand there's the smegma factor.

Long story short, guys need to clean up just like girls do. Absolutely no different. So, if he didn't take care of that before hand, it's probably nothing to worry about other than he might be as new to this as you but not as well educated about it.

To ALL youngsters, in the movies when people get to their selected location to get busy and they say, "I need to go freshen up" THIS is what they're taking care of! If you're a guy, don't use the time to check text messages! Find a second bathroom or go in after her and do your own self-maintenance to avoid this kind of awkward situation. If you care about the other person at all, it makes for a better kind of "memorable encounter".

You know that men and women smell better if they eat a healthy diet. I try to eat a lot of fruit and veggies. Just saying....

It shouldn't be a smell that you think ... oh god that stinks! it should just be a bit of male musk, maybe a bit of sweat, but nothing disgusting. Good that you're getting tested, I hope it goes ok

I dated a guy who smelled- we dated for a year and I look back and hated being intimate with him. It was gross. I just thought it was par for the course.

I have to agree. Guys shouldn't smell down there. I personally was circumcised as an adult, it was my choice. Even though I constantly keep my penis clean, and I mean I cleaned it every time I urinated, there was always that "musty" smell. Even though there was no medical condition or disease, I personally feel that the circumcision was the best thing I ever did to my penis.

As well, it's not just the penis, it's also the amount of pubic hair. A guy that keeps it trimmed or shaved has a lot less "scent".

I personally am very considerate when it comes to being clean down there. Seeing as how I'm bisexual, I keep my penis as clean as I want the penises I put in my mouth.

I do recall guys having a smell. Not a horrible stench but a distinctive smell.

There is hair which tends to hold odor in all of us, and sweat, and I think we all have a certain sent we omit.

Anything that smells of yeast, feces, urine, or days of unwashing or infection is not something you want to be partaking of.

I remember the first man I was with and preformed oral on. The smell was obvious, but not disgusting. I don't think that smell will ever leave me. That encounter didn't end positively for me so I am certain it will not be a smell I will ever forget.
