I don't know who I am. I now seem to be sexually attracted to my job coach from Service Alternatives. Does that make me gay? In high school, I had a crush on my English teacher who's female and there were one or two girls I thought was cute. But, other than that, while growing up, I had crushes on boys. Maybe I'm bi. Although, I guess I wouldn't know because I never had a boyfriend or girlfriend and I wouldn't know until I start dating.

Hello SilentGirl: You know, this is a complex subject. If you don't get allot of replies on this forum, you might consider moving this thread to the Transgender Forum. I'm reasonably sure you'll get quite a few there.

I hope this doesn't come across as being "nitpicky". But the first thing I want to comment on is your statement: "I don't know who I am." And, with regard to this, I just want to say, being uncertain about your sexual orientation does not add up to not knowing who you are. Yes, sexual orientation is a big part of life. But you are also much more than that. I assume you know this. But just in case you don't, you are. (Are you confused yet?)

One cannot judge one's sexual orientation based on crushes most of which occurred while in school. The teen years, in particular, are a time of becoming aware of one's sexuality & beginning to explore one's feelings. And as you point out in your post, you haven't had any boyfriends, girlfriends, or dates. So trying to judge your sexual orientation now is really just not possible, I don't believe.

The important thing here, from my perspective, is to not become focused on this question. As I wrote at the beginning of my reply, you are much more than your sexual orientation. So I would suggest you focus on other things in your life & allow your sexual orientation to evolve over time. Just see who you are attracted to as you go along, & who is attracted to you. Your sexual orientation will become more clear as time goes by.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
