I can't believe I'm actually making a thread about this...
I would have titled it "Sexsomnia", apparently the proper name for sex-related stuff during sleep, but all I've ever done is the title. I did some research, it certainly happens and is a bit more common with women than men, but all I wonder is...why? The only reason I'm aware of this in myself is because every once in a while I'll wake up with my legs splayed and one hand in just the right place (especially odd as I never masturbate like that while awake). I never thought much of it until it popped into my head again today and I went to see if it's a thing. I had an thread here a while back wondering if my combination of low sex drive and outright anxiety/fear about sex constituted some kind of disorder. I read a bit of speculation that sexsomnia might be caused by a lack of satisfaction in waking life, or a result of repression. I...really hope neither of those are the case. So, anyone know about this? It's not a problem, just something I'm a bit weirded out by and wondered about. |

Fascinating, thanks for sharing. I've never heard of this before. It definitely sounds plausible that your sex drive is greater than you think but you're repressing it because of the fear or anxiety. Is there any way you can lessen those and come to accept your sexuality?
I don't know your situation; sorry if this is unhelpful.

I don't really know what causes it, but I've ... um ... experienced it. Early in our relationship I woke up to my wife fondling me in her sleep. She was dead-out asleep, but all over me. She's only done it a couple of times though.
I don't know what causes it, but I know it's a lot more common than people realize. Like sleep apnea.

It is pretty common, and it is not problem by itself. I also encountered this, though I ended masturbation even without touching anywhere (I am male).
I think that your subconscious screaming you about some things that your conscious prefers not to hear. It is important to know what do you imagine during this. I think this should be treated like some unusual dreams, but still dreams, having compensatory and balancing functions. PS: |

I'm 21. To those who talked about repression, it's possible, sure. I tend to think I'm comfortable with my low interest in sex though - it only bothers me when it starts to seems abnormal compared to others (via comments or articles online). |

Have you ever tried progesterone cream? It's rather euphoric.
You say you have a low interest in sex. Sex is different than masturbating 4 hours nonstop and making videos. |

As to sex...I never went through a horny teenager phase. I think I've only entertained the idea of having sex with an actual person once or twice. I did cyber-sex with that person and was bored halfway through, and then was mentally wiped out from it for days after. Most sex acts though, sound squicky and/or painful to me. I frequently associate sex with pain, and seeing as everyone's kinky these days, I honestly don't know if I'd be able to separate bedroom naughtiness with actually feeling abused or afraid for my safety. Most of my sexual thoughts/fantasies do not involve me directly - they're vicarious through fictional characters or at best, a slightly idealized version of myself. Insane as that might sound, I tend to be generally content with it. I had a thread probably on the next page of the sub forum called Sexual Aversion Disorder. I don't have the titular ailment but I do outline my own confused sexuality there. |
