Well it seems I'm the opposite of most people. I am always sleepy.. always.. I just can't get enough sleep. I do wake up often during the night but this doesn't happen every night. But I walk during the day like I'm in a daze. Every day for me is wake up at 6:30am and it's hard to get my self out of bed cause I'm soooo sleepy.

Then I walk through out the day half asleep, hard time concentrating, until about 3pm or so when after quite some cups of caffene I finally wake up fully. It's annoying because I'm always tired and sleepy & it takes a lot of energy to pay good attention at everything specially at work. Ugh and when I'm driving home I have to have a soda with me with plenty of caffene just in case.

ALSO dream wise.... I have a question... "all my dreams are dark. no matter what I dream about even if it's a happy dream it's always dark. I never see daylight in my dreams and generally they are like puzzles and don't make a lot of sense. Rarely can you really follow them" Any ideas???

THx...

Hey PJ176,

You seem to make a lot of sense to me.. Gosh!! so much of your sleeping goes for me too.. my friends always say that i'm almost never fully awake... even i feel more energetic sometime in the afternoon...but thankfully i dont need to take much caffeine and all that... but i'm tired and sleepy all the time too... especially since i started work... i dont know if it is my health or something else, but recently i lost around 12kgs within two months, doing just nothing!! and after that i'm so weak... my younger brothers and my cousins can pull me, push me, kick me and all that so easily.. but i dont remember to be strong enough even when i had all that lost weight on me...

and as for dreams, i have all kind of dreams, dark, light, scary, happy, etc.. i dont wake up from my sleep, or any thing.. if i am worried or tensed its so easier to sleep.. the moment i'm on my bed, i close my eyes... but strangely these stuffs are mostly recent.. when i was a kid, i had to toss and turn a thousand times to get myself to sleep and if i were tensed i used to cry a lot over it, may be for hours on.. i remember seeing the clock tick 3 and 4 am when i lay there crying.. and i can dream when i'm wide awake!! i dont know what it is all supposed to mean, i'm able to dream anything.. simply anything!! recently my dreams have so much to do with sex.. i wonder why?!!
i wish i could help you.. but i'm totally as helpless as you are..

You say you awaken during the night? How often does this happen? Is it over a bad dream or are you waking up to use the bathroom?

I am just wondering because if you are waking up a lot you may have sleep apnea.. which is a breathing problem during deep sleep which can cause you to not feel completely rested.

I would talk with a medical doctor about the sleepiness/fatigue issue.

Try doing all your caffeine in the morning, even if you have to go to bed earlier and start drinking coffee at 5:30 AM. Dowse it with cold chocolate mild and chug it down. Ask your doc about medication for narcolepsy for during the day. My pdoc gave this to me. It wasn't effective for me, because I am not sleepy, just fatigued/lacking energy. I'm wide awake, just can't do anything about it. But I think narcolepsy meds, such as provigil - there are others - are quite effective for actual sleepiness. Re: your dreams: most dreams are like puzzles. I'm no expert on why the darkness, however. At least you have some happy ones! Concentrating on the Positives, I am ~ billieJ
