I just don't know what to do anymore! I see my p. doc tomorrow afternoon and I hope to get some answers because I am so sick and tired of my Mother being on my back about my sleep issues. In the last past 2 months (maybe a bit longer) I have had trouble sleeping at night and I get up usually very early. I only average about 5 hours or less of sleep a night. I usually wake up a few times during the night and I am sometimes up only a brief amount of time or I stay up for like an hour or more. Last week (Monday) it just suddenly got worse. My sleeping is down to just about 4 hours or less a night. I am getting up like around 4:15 - 4:30 am. I usually have to take at least two naps just to get through the day! I know this screws up my night time sleep, but I just can't function without them! I did talk with my primary care provider last week and she suggested Ambien CR, but my insurance won't cover it. Instead she said I should try Lunesta. I took it for a couple of nights and it just didn't help! I have tried the melatonin route and the antidepressant route (Trazadone, Seroquel, Neurontin, to name just a few). I am just at my wits end!! I am keeping a journal/log to show the doctor when I go to bed, when I am awake at night and when I get to bed at night. I also a have an additional one set up to record my thoughts and feelings about the night. Anybody have any other ideas that may help me? Anything would be VERY MUCH appreciated!

id say worrying about it is possibly making the situation worse.
But theres more to it than that. Have you tried relaxation techniques?
Keep as active as you can throughout the day, walk/ sWim.
Lay in the dark at night, but if you cant sleep find something qUiet to do, painting, reading, writing, scrapbooking. But stay away from tv, the internet etc as much as you can.
Watch out for caffiene.
All of this you may have tried i know but they are still the best first steps.
I hope your pdoc may be able to help.
I only sleep 4-5 hours a night. I try not to worry too much about it.
