I normally have vivid, intense dreams. The emotions I feel in my dreamstates are usually more intense and real-feeling that in my actual life. But sometimes the intensity of the emotions "carryover" into my waking state. And if it's a sad/depressive emotion, it hangs on and can stick with me for most of the day. And this isn't exactly good, since I battle with ups-and-downs of depression anyway. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Or how I could break the "carryover"?

That's very odd, because I usually forget my dreams about an hour after I wake up. Maybe some form of distraction would help. read a book or do something constructive.

I understand completely, it seems that our emotions carry over into our waking life, but I have noticed that this happens more with bad dreams and less with good dreams. I do not remember many days that I carried over good feelings from a dream, but I can remember carrying over bad feelings from a dream. I believe it is because bad dreams have such a negative impact on us that we choose to remember the hurt as a way to protect ourselves from future hurt. Just my opinion not a proven fact.

Dear Nopaddle ~ I have not noticed this, but being depressed most of the time, I could be having it without recognizing it. Try reading or watching something funny immediately on waking up. I tend to have rather good dreams - lots of neat flying dreams. Problem with that is that the dreams are better than my real life! To nopaddle from [up the same creek with] noboat!
