I woke myself up a couple of times biting the tip of my tongue really hard.
Has anyone else ever done this and what could be the cause?

Yes...I have done this and it hurts soooo bad. I'm not sure why I do it. I think maybe it could be from internal anxiety, a bad dream, or sometimes I wonder if it could be related to some type of seizure or myoclonus.

Sorry...probably doesn't help much.

Yes, I have woken with a bitten tongue a few times or so.

Each time was due to my partial seizure becoming secondarily-generalized (tonic-clonic). It's certainly worth mentioning these biting events to your doctor. They'll probably want to do an EEG to check out the electrical activity occurring in your brain. I greatly recommend the EEG (preferably one with sleep or extended time).

Very best wishes to you!
