A couple of nights ago, I had a dream that I was going away for a road trip. I packed my bags and a cooler of snacks, and my family said their good-byes, but none of them came with me. I Thought this was odd since I usually travel with them. Anyway, I got in the van, and most of the seats were missing, and my traveling companion was a dog that looked like a Lab mix. The strangest part of the dream was when someone walked up to the van and offered to help me get to my destination. Instead of getting in the van, he walked ahead of the van, and there was a crowd of people on the left side of the street cheering me on, telling me I can get there.

Before I started typing this, I thought the dream meant that I was lonely and wanted companionship, but was afraid to let anyone in. While typing, another meaning came to mind. I think my family represented my past that I need to let go (not that I have a problem with my family), the missing seats in the van stand for letting go of baggage, the dog stands for a guardian angel or some kind of tool I need to keep myself grounded, the man giving me directions was God, and the crowd of people were angels and whoever is in my support system cheering me on and encouraging me.

Am I on to something?

You know, you might really be going in the right direction with your interpretation. To me it seems like you have a goal you want to accomplish, and there are things that stand in your way. You want to do them, but aren't sure how to go about them. I think you should figure out what it is that you want to do, and do it.

cool dream. it sounds like it's about becoming independent to me, launching out on your own in some area of life if you've already done that in the general sense. maybe you're a little worried at first but then you find you have all the support and guidance you need to get you where you are trying to go. a dog is man's best friend so he might be your trusted companion. i like how you thought the man was God guiding you. he does go before us and clears the way.

I do have goals such as starting my own business, and the task is pretty daunting to me, so I haven't done everything I'm supposed to do yet. I guess the dream was a type of reassurance.

Yes, I am working on being more independent by returning to work, etc. I have to share my car right now, so I think once I don't have to do that any more, I can be even more independent.
