I never met my mother-in-law; she called to tell my husband she was dying and died two days later. The whole phone conversation (I was there but it was another 4-5 years before we were married) was an eye opener for me, my husband was so centered and loving (and I'm rubbing his back and crying my eyes out). My husband told me she had said she wished I'd answered the phone so she could have "met" me/heard my voice.
That was 25 or so years ago. That being the background, last night I dreamed I was pregnant and due around Christmas and my mother-in-law was pregnant and due around New Years, a week later than me. It was my first child (and obviously not her first :-) She called on the phone and was making sure my husband was bringing the right presents or food or something, whatever he was charged with bringing "up" to the Christmas celebration the family was having Thinking about Christmas it "felt" like Christmas with snow, parties, presents, cold, fires in the fire place, good food, etc. He was slightly annoyed sounding, like she was bugging him, treating him too much like a mother does a young child, and of course he would bring what he was supposed to and had it all planned, etc. She was asking after me and he told her a few things but I didn't agree with what he said and when it was my turn to talk to her I reassured her everything was all right, that the "problems" he'd related weren't like he'd related them, etc. and we were very bonded as we were both women and both equally pregnant, etc. It felt really good, the connection, and replaced the good Christmas feeling. That was the dream. I haven't been thinking about her or had an important phone conversation or any problems with my husband. No one is pregnant and I've had no thoughts about Christmas.

Dreams can be so confusing and strange. I know that you can drive yourself nutty by trying to interpret them. The dream could be about having a connection to your mother-in-law that you did not have before. I have a book on interpreting dreams. I can look this up. Take care-Meister.

I have a glimmer of an idea, with the, "progression" of me to my mother-in-law's age, my place in my husband's life, our ages, I was due first with the baby, then she was; mine a Christmas "present" (as in present time) and she a "new year", etc.
My husband and I are coming up on the age she was when she died and I recently found he has a little extra insurance plan for himself for cancer (what she died of). One of the things I'm working on now is growing older and its challenges.

Hi,
Your everyday thoughts impact on your dreams, however there is always a reason for a dream. You do have a complicated subconscious and it works in a very clever way! The reason for your dream was that you felt bloated in your sleep. Perhaps youhad too much of your favourite things? That is probably why the dream text mentions Christmas and presents! Strange how a bit of indigestion evokes thoughts of past experiences and present apprehensions. |
