I have had a few dreams about leaving different pets to starve, sometimes it's my real life awake pets sometimes it is pets that are mine in the dream but i have not had in real life, it is always in my awake real home, sometimes in the living room, sometimes in a 'new room' attatched to my my home. sometimes some of them are dead and some barely alive and sometimes they are all barely alive, sometimes there are loads of animals sometimes only a few, but the dreams are so realistic i feel sick and that i could actually have done these cruel things when i awaken. I love my gerbils and would do nothing to harm them.
I do not know if it is to do with guilt for the ones which died when a friend was supposed to be looking after them during my stay in hospital, or if it is because i squashed one by accident when trying to catch them after they all escaped when i was really ill, or if it is that i feel that i didn't do enough when my partner was ill or because i was not with him at the last moment of his life or anything else,
can anyone enlighten me to the meaning of the dream please

I am not sure but maybe you are afraid that they will die that way. A lot of times your fears will come out in your dreams. I remember when my mom was alive I used to have dreams about her dying (she did of cancer). This was way before she ever got sick. I was so afraid of her dying it would play out in my dreams. Maybe try some affrimations before bed like saying "my animals are fine and healthy and we fed." See if that works?

At least that is my take on it. Someone else chime in..........

I think being under stress can make you imagine you are going to do something to save yourself, if you have to do it even at the expense of others. But you did not do that. You did not let them starve.

Hi,
These are dreams caused by anxiety. The worry about your health and lack of concern by the medical and caring profession.
Negative thoughts intrude into your sleep and your subconscious creates these dreams to divert you from them or to wake you up.
I hope your will get better soon and your problems get solved
Thanks for this!

I dream of the exact same things. The pets have been hampsters, iguanas, cats, dogs and even sometimes a baby. I dream that I have forgotten them for so long and then all of a sudden realize that I haven't fed them in "forever". I then go to feed them and I am so very afraid that they will be dead or look awful. Once I get to them, I see that they have multiplied in dozens and have serious guilt that not only did my pets not get fed but neither did their babies. When I wake up I tend to carry that emotional guilt throughout the day.

I think what's happening (for me anyway) is avoiding issues and not tending to them when you should just makes things much worse. I try to live with the saying, "If I say I should do it then I need to do it". I hope this helps ... good luck!

wow i never thought of it like that, i have come to recognise my 'flying' dreams as me feeling trapped and my 'peeing' dreams as i need to wake up and go to the loo but just had no idea about these , what you say makes sense as i am quite stressed about the whole lack of concern thing by the so called caring professionals, Thankyou greatly xx

This whole dream thread about pets is of great interest for me.
I've always thought about my reoccurring dreams about my cats as having to do with my "inner Child" or "inner kitten", if you will ;-)

I have these dreams nearly every night, where they have escaped out a window or someone has accidently let them out and I and freaking out. A couple of nights ago I dreampt that one of them was headed out the window and I had to hold onto her frail aging kitty body so hard that it was going to kill her.

The very next dream I had was where I had rescued her and held onto her tightly but when I looked, she was dead and flying away into dust.

After these two dreams, I asked myself: What is it that I'm holding onto so tightly? What if I let go?

Last night my dreams were about being embraced into a spiritual community.

Interesting, huh?

Sometimes, it's sbest not to try to hard to interpret our dreams. The subconscious is tricky. It does, however, sound like you feel very bad about your pets dying. You have to forgive yourself. You were sick. You couldn't help it. It's OK.
Thanks for this!
