Well, I've been having this dream every night (every night that my body forces sleep on me, anyways). It's really scary, and I know that some people think that dreams have meanings....I dunno. If this dream has a meaning, can someone tell me?

(By the way, something that might help explain this is that I have moved within the past few months, and am having a really hard time adjusting.)

I'm running, and I don't know why, except that I know that there's something I really, really want in the direction that I'm running. And then I look back, and there's a bunch of people chasing me, yelling things I can't make out. And then I look foreward again (all the while running so hard I can hardly breathe), and all of a sudden, this huge chasm opens up and I catch a fleeting glimpse of snow covering a whole big area, where I was running to, before I fall into the gorge. Sometimes I keep falling for a while, and sometimes I wake up then. One time, I kept scraping against the side, and had all of these cuts on my arm, where I usually SI, weirdly enough.

So, if anyone interprets dreams, help!!! And thanks in advance to whoever might happen to stop and read this!

Here is some stuff I found...

Running towards someone or something: not being able to catch the object indicates a fear of rejection and loss of that person.

Running in dreams suggests the potential for anxiety or distress. Sometimes trying to do something too quickly.

Running in a dream suggests that you are feeling trapped or pressured in a real life relationship. It can also mean you feel stressed.

As a symbol, falling highlights a loss of emotional equilibrium or self-control. You may fear "letting go" in real life. Anxiety usually accompanies this dream. It may represent your insecurity, a lack of self-confidence, a fear of failure or an inability to cope with a situation. There could also be a literal interpretation. You may have noticed something unsafe- a loose stair rail, wobbly ladder or insecure window. Check it out. The dream may be a warning.

And the cuts on your arm where you usually SI are probably specifically connected to that...

Hope some of this helps!

It did! A lot of that is true...especially the anxiety and not being able to "let go".
Thanks for looking at that for me!

Hi,
In sleep, we usually make or simulate the movements the dream suggests. When you dream of running, your legmuscles are twitching or your legs are actually moving. Your subconscious creates these dreams because you experience breathing difficulties in some sleeping positions. Your dreams are actually making you thrash about in bed to get you into amore comfortable sleeping position.
Your problem with SI is making you restless in bed. The thoughts of you doing SI intrude into your sleep and make you scratch yourself. Eventually your dreams wake you up. The falling is the actual waking element in your dreams.
I hope you will forget about SI and llok towards the future.

Hi.

That's kind of weird.... Where did you hear that? And how can I forget about SI? It's a rather prominent part of my life at the moment...

Thanks for trying to help!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

It is not so "weird" if you know how dreams work. Dreams try to help the sleeper by incorporating and interpreting physical and psychological influences so he/she can have some restful sleep. If you watch someone sleep, you can often see movements and actually see they are dreaming about something.
