Last night I had a dream (I'm not sure if I should call it that) whilst sleeping my "dream" was that I was being raped in public toilet. The only reason I am confused is because when I was 8 I was raped in school. So it is something that has happened but the situation had changed. I don't feel safe sleeping as I am haunted by it, plus I don't know what to make of it.

In short: it was a dream. It was just a dream. It may even repeat itself in the same or some other variation, no one can promise you it won't, or it may never happen again. If it happens again you will wake up and you will know it was just another mind movie, not a real event. You CAN let it go. It is safe to let it go. Your bed is not really a dangerous place, nor are your dreams. You are just seeing 3d full sensory immersion mind-movies. If only you could order swimming with dolphins in tropical paradise for tonight's feature, eh? (some lucky bastards CAN, oh I am sooooo envious!)
I am not saying it is easy, but I really encourage you to let go of those horrible feelings you woke up with. Think about this. Would you be mourning if your dreamt your friend died? Would you be devastated because you dreamt your home burned down, and you lost all your possessions? Of course not. And of course your emotions got riled up. It was awful. But you know your friend is alive, and you can open your eyes and see all your stuff safe and sound, and you know you were not raped in the night because you were in your bed, not that public toilet. So breathe. Tell someone you had an awful dream and get a hug, and then walk into the the sunny world of reality. And perhaps, finding a way to let go of emotions surrounding dreamtime rape can show you a way to free yourself up from feeling so much pain for what was done to that 8 year old little girl. You've suffered enough. |

That was really helpful. Thank you.
I too wish I was that lucky and could bring in dolphins in my dreams ![]()

![]() I wonder if saying out loud "I want to dream of swimming with dolphins tonight" every night before falling asleep may do something. Eventually? I never tried that, but I would love them to visit my dreams. It never hurts to ask. |
