I have suffered with sleepless nights but sometimes I sleep well and sometimes I struggle to fall asleep. Last night I guess I fell asleep around about 4am. I need to listen to relaxation and whisper videos so I can feel sleepy and relaxed. Sometimes I feel happy and I feel like I don't need to sleep and I'm fine but until 4am/5am I would feel tired. Would this be known as insomnia or is this normal for everyone?

different treatment providers, locations... have different terms for what they call insomnia.

in general insomnia is when you have trouble falling asleep, have trouble staying asleep or both.

here where I live and work the treatment providers tell me everyone has times when they cant sleep or stay asleep because of problems or stress or just not very tired. my own treatment provider says insomnia is when I cant sleep for more than 3 nights in a row and when I keep waking up when I finally do go to sleep.

there is treatment for it.. it all depends on what is causing it.

suggestion contact your treatment providers. they can tell you if what is happening with you is called insomnia where you are and if so they can help you get to the bottom of what is causing it and treat it for / with you.

You're not alone there. This is exactly what's been happening to me just recently. I also suspect insomnia but I have been under alot of stress. Does anyone know if stress causes insomnia? I think it can do but i'm not sure.

It is not normal. Though whether or not it's insomnia could be considered a different question as insomnia is (medically speaking) but one cause of sleep disturbances

Have you considered the possibility of (hypo) mania? What you describe in the above passage sounds very similar to my experience with that.

Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight!

Thank you for your reply. I have considered the possibility of hypomania but people on here said I might not have it. I did have a good sleep
