I already know that my mental illness causes the sleeping too much or having the feeling that I don't need to sleep and can function on only a few hours of sleep, but what about never remembering dreams. Am I dreaming or not, and if I am not, or never remember them, what does that mean?

A lot of people don't remember their dreams - mental illness or not. Everyone dreams but not everyone can remember them when they wake up. I wouldn't be too worried As long as you are managing (or at least trying) to sleep you will be fine.

I don't sleep well, and I don't remember just about any dreams. I hear people talk about there dreams all the time, and I am at a lost because 90 +% of the time I don't remember a dream, and if you don't dream, or go into ream cycle, I know you don't get good sleep.

My friend actually basically never dreams. She has a few dreams now and then. I used to think it was just about remembering dreams, because you need to at least wake up shortly after a REM phase to remember that you dreamt. She is a sound sleeper so I took for granted she just didn't remember because of lack of wake ups. Came out she actually doesn't dream much at all. You can wake her up at any time, and by chance, one of those would be dream sleep but it never happens. I should add she also has a brain damage so maybe that has something to do with it as well.
