A couple of weeks ago i saw my doctor about problems to do with my Thyroid in my neck. While in the doctors office, he then checked for swelling around my thyroid by feeling around my neck. I began to panic and have flashbacks of the times i was strangled by my step dad.
Ive since booked an appointment to have an ultrasound on my neck to check for nodes and swelling on my thyroid. The appointment is in 2 weeks. I keep having nightmares about it though. At the start of the dream, im walking to the hospital listening to music. To get to the hospital i have to cross the road near a roundabout. When im halfway across the road, a car speeds past me and nearly hits me. Its a black sedan with tinted windows. Then i get to the reception at the hospital to get my ultrasound done, when a doctor comes out and takes me into this dark small room. I can still kind of see, but not a lot. Then he starts to do the ultrasound on me, and i begin to have flashbacks again and start panicking. he tell me to keep still. i keep shaking and moving. so he yells at me. Then he drops the ultrasound thing, and starts strangling me. i fight against it for a while, but then everything turns black and i wake up. ive woken up 3 times having a panic attack. i always wake up with sweating and shaking with eatery eyes. (i find it hard to cry....) I told my T about it, and had a panic attack in her office while telling her. It was scary. Im starting to get really exhausted because while i sleep for the right amount of hours, its interupted sleep and its getting really overwhelming. any thoughts?

I would evaluate just how much stress and anxiety you're going through in your daily life at this time. Attempt to do activities which reduce stress as well as encourage relaxation, such as exercise, meditation, yoga exercise etc. Additionally, if you have anything in your lifetime which is causing psychological or spiritual stress, you need to talk to a dependable confidant to obtain has gone out.

I often have nightmares. I wake up with my heart racing. Then I can't go back to sleep.
It sounds like the nightmares you are having are pretty scary. My doctor gave me meds to help me sleep. I take Trazadone, and clonipin at night. I notice the scary dreams have subsided for now. But I still wake up at all hours of the night. I don't get a full nights sleep ever.I hope everything is ok with your thyroid. Anyways......hugs to you for talking about it. We are here for you so don't be shy. |
