Had a rather disturbing dream last night about two demons. The night before I dreamed of a ghost being in my apartment. I tried to interpret it online but so far all I have is that it most likely reflects my anxiety. Maybe that is all that its about But I thought it would be interesting to hear other peoples’ interpretation, especially concerning the meaning of demons.

The dream starts with me running through a ghost town and looking for something. It seemed like I was hiding from someone because every time I heard a helicopter passing by I would hide inside a building. I walked along labyrinth like streets until I came across a run-down building. The place was deserted. It was very dark inside and the air felt like the building has not been ventilated in a while.

I walked down the stairs into the basement where I found a door. I opened it and walked into a small room that looked like an office. Inside were two demons sitting at an antique table and smiling mischievously. It seemed like they were waiting for me. It felt like they were somewhat familiar. It was very weird because I didn’t remember ever seeing their face but somehow their aura seemed familiar.

I remember hearing gloomy and melancholic music. There were lots of books – some of them covered in dust - and a large carpet. There was also a very small window that was closed and partially broken. I asked the demons an important question (can’t remember what unfortunately) and they started talking quietly among themselves. Then all of a sudden I seemed to have remembered or realized something. I decided to turn around and walk away but the door I came through disappeared. The last thing I remember is that I was trying to scream but there was no sound.

I'd be glad to hear any ideas on what the demons & other things could stand for. Thanks

First - I can't stress this enough... DON'T TRUST THE DREAM DICTIONARIES! They're pretty much dream horoscopes based loosely on society/culture connections to images and phrases.

On to the dream...

This is a therapy dream. The labrynth of the ghost town would probably be a representation of repressed memories (I say memories because ghost has come up twice in your post, and ghosts are spirits of the past...therefor ghosts in dreams are personifications of past memories/people/events). The helicopter I would guess is your therapist symbolised - something vaguely there, but not directly involved in the journey (like "only you can answer what this means to you, all your therapist can do is guide you and offer you some sort of safety net"). That you're running from the helicopter tells me that there is a lack of trust there. It could also be how others see you taking this journey, and that you feel they would frown on it, so you're trying to do it without being caught.

Now you go into a building, and into a basement. Sounds like you're getting to the root of the matter somewhere. But now there are two demons sitting waiting for you. You might be anticipating the revealing of your own inner demons, and that you see them as the major hinderance tells me you doubt your ability to overcome your past. You have a realization, and you think "well that's it, time to go home", but the door is gone. That's because in every journey like this there is no going back...only forward. I think it was Alice in Wonderland that said "You have to go forward to go back." You call out here, but now you find you have no voice. This is a twofold meaning. First, you are afraid that when you get to this point you won't have any help and you won't have any power (a voice of your own). Second, you are the only one that can get yourself through the journey. In the end you are the one that has to find the next exit and leave the room.

Remember, you have a support network in place (if nowhere else, here ) Don't underestimate your own power and abilities. In the end you are your own greatest obstacle.
