I had a CD with nature sounds. It had different tracks with crickets, water, et cetera. I gave it to my exH when he was in the hospital recently to drown out the noise so he could sleep.
I had it saved to my hard drive but alas my son stepped on my laptop when our electric was out and I had to replace the hard drive. I did an ebay search for buy it now CDs and found several. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...rt=nc&LH_BIN=1

I can't recall which one was mine. I listened to water more than the other tracks.

I have all kinds of sleep devices which play nature sounds! All sorts!
I have the machine, which does this...Hey...I can send it to you, as I no longer use it! just send me your address via PM. I now use my Kindle Fire, on which I've downloaded all kinds of sound apps! I personally like the sounds of rain, especially rain on a tin roof. I also, almost all the time now, fall asleep to audio books, of male British narrators, reading long, involved historical data, LOL! ![]() |

I understand. The machine is just one of those "sound" machines. You can find them almost anywhere!

Binaural Beats (youtube that and then go to a youtube-to-mp3 converter to make it into a music file) will not only drown out the sounds and whatnot externally keeping you awake, but will also give you something to focus on enough to keep your thoughts from wandering while not keeping your attention too much that you don't sleep. And the mHz are specially designed to trigger specific brain wave activity that induces sleep and dreaming.
Mandamay has begun trying it out and it's given her more delta sleep (the deepest kind of sleep), which she never normally gets.

I have a soundmachine by conair. It has sounds such as rain falling, thunder storms, babbling brook, rain forest and a white noise sound which i found annoying. I'm using it for now but i'm looking for something else. They have really nice soothing sounds on you tube. I don't know if you can download them though. I'm going to look into it. You can get on amazon and search for sound machines and you should be able to find something.

hey. thanks for the suggestions how good are the sounds on the machine you mentioned? i mean like.. are they really realistic or are they not that good simulated ones (hope you know what i'm trying to say!) |

Well, not really. At first i thought it sounded like the real thing but then (and i'm not sure how to explain it) you could hear that there was a repetitive loop and its irritating. You can't really relax because its so noticeable. The white noise is just a loud annoying sound and then they have the rain forest where you'll hear birds and it sounds like monkeys in the background, they have a train, a heartbeat and i think thats it. So like i said i usually use only the babbling brook or the falling rain. I'm looking for something else a little more realistic sounding and without that noticeable loop.

My sound machine, which was stored in the closet till I found it, is by Homedics. But there are many such machines. I have a Kindle Fire, and the apps there offer many sound downloads. Last night I used the "rain on a car" which actually is the best sounding one for simulating rain on a tin roof.
I apologize if I sounded intrusive, offering to send you my-no-longer-used machine, and suggesting you PM me with your address. Afterwards, I realized how intrusive and inappropriate that must have sounded. People who know me here would probably have taken me up on that offer, but you don't know me, and may have thought me a kook! ![]() Also, if you have a smart phone or an android phone, there are many such apps for those as well.
