Hey, SpiritOfAStorm, thanks for sharing your dream. If it were my dream, I'd think it was a bit like the dreams of taking a test in school but not having studied?
I usually try to hone in to my feelings rather than the subject matter. You were anxious about forgetting the words and, in addition, it was a play, not "life" itself (so a veil instead of the real thing; kind of like dreaming you are sleeping?). Is there a situation coming up that has you anxious; something where you have to tell someone something difficult? Have you been thinking about talking to your parents/significant other, or pretending to be something you are not (acting your part) in a situation and want to tell the other people but letting them know makes you anxious. Are you afraid of being found out about something in real life? A play is like a story someone's made up. Our daily lives are mini-plays/stories. Are you afraid you're going to forget something? Have a speech/presentation to give at school or work and worried about it? Has a friend/loved one died recently and you're afraid you'll "forget" them in some way? Are you working with your memories and afraid you've forgotten some of those "stories"/plays/vignettes?

I thank you for your reply. Upon reading it, I am now thinking that its life I have taken on, like a role, and I was not prepared for it, like I was expected to put on a splendid performance based on my audition and then let everyone down by not remembering my lines.
I am recently separated after 23 years together, have lost everyting in the real estate crash, and am terribly depressed about letting down my family. Maybe that is what that dream was all about? ![]() |

Maybe it's your subconscious telling you it's about time you created your own life. A play that doesn't exist sounds like you have the potential to create this play. Maybe you forgetting the words is actually you feeling like you don't know where to begin to make this life yours.

Where is your Mask? What were the lines when you wore it? Maybe you gave up on the feelings that you need to wear a Mask any more, or stick to the lines that went with it. That can be kind of scary when one gives up on old protections.

I've read that often times dreams are reviews of the files in our brains. We see many more things and hear much more than we actually consciously remember. Sometimes our emotions get triggered by the memories that the brain is reviewing.
I was wondering if maybe you had heard the phase or read, seen the play As You Like It by Shakespeare? That was the first thing I thought of when you talked about being in a play. "All the worlds a stage and all the men and women merly players. They have their exits and their entrances". You just got divorced and now there is a new play after so long a time, the dating game has changed in 23 years. Where is the script? What does the future hold, you are just a player. You lost your savings in the real estate crash- how can you trust the old script? Some of your posts talk about wanting to meet someone new, some talk about regret of the divorce. Maybe it's just that today there is a new play(future) and you don't yet know what direction it is going to take. You just haven't yet decided what play/direction you want, and that scares you after having what you thought was a script for life/security. How can you trust yourself to choose a new play/script when the old one "exited" before you were ready. Remember only you can know if the interpretation is right. You will know because there will be an "ah-ha!" moment. All we can do is make suggestions. I kinda like ((Thunder's)) suggestion.
