Hi guys!

In my dream, I went to the doctor for an inoculation. But instead of a pin-prick injection, he slashed the length of my forearm, and so deeply that it was sure to leave a scar.

My first reaction was pain, secondly there was a sense of betrayal, but above all there was surprise.

A dream on the nature of psychotherapy, perhaps.

Interesting interpretation--but likely some truth to the analogy!

The doctor in this scene may represent an actual doctor or simply someone who appears to be functioning with your wellbeing in mind or who knows what is best for you.

The scene indicates that you go to this person with the expectation of being “needled” (went to the doctor for an inoculation) , i.e. being forced to get the point in a way that is very annoying and uncomfortable, or being goaded or provoked. But instead of just making their point as could be expected (instead of a pin-prick injection), they leave you very “cut-up” (slashed), very emotionally upset, so upset that you are sure the memory of the experience will stay with you for a very long time.( it was sure to leave a scar.)

Because the slashing is done on the forearm, the emotional pain being felt seems to apply to your sense of being forearmed or forewarned. While three reactions do occur – feeling pain, feeling betrayed and feeling surprised, the feeling that needs to be focused upon is that of surprise. (the 3rd mentioned) {Surprise would seem quite in order since it would be impossible to feel fore warned because no one would expect someone functioning as, or as if, a doctor to do such damage. This person is not functioning true to their calling.}
