Dream interpretation help needed

Hi,

I dreamt the other night that my partner died and i was trying to contact his friends to tell them - woke up extremelly upset.

What does it mean to dream that your partner has died?

We are currently in couples counselling.

It could be a number of things.

One thing that I have been advised is that the most important part of dream interpretation is how you feel about it and what your own insights are, not what someone else can tell you. That said, sometimes others' insights can point us towards things we may otherwise have overlooked. I would take the dream to possibly indicate a few things. It could be a signal indicating what an important part of your life your partner is. It could also indicate how much responsibility you have assumed, perhaps without even knowing it - as indicated by the idea of trying to contact all his friends. Death in dreams and symbols usually means change, not physical death, so it could signify a coming change in the relationship, if you take the dream to be an omen.
