I am not a child. I am just about to be 31 but even if I was theres nothing wrong with that right?
Anyway-
Had AWFUL nightmares last night. Most of them are incidents from the past that haunt me. Some where just plain crazy and I understood what was happening but ALL of them which were at least 5 scared the crap out of me.
I also happen to have insomnia- last night I got sleep YAY, RIGHT?? Um, no. I would have rather gone crazy not sleeping. Since some of the forums are so picky about what you can post and not post Im just going to post some things that have happened in the past and if they delete them then whatever.
I was molested as a child from 6-9 years old from two siblings (until I started my period at the age of 9) Dreamt about that
These are all things that happened to me so I dont have to point them out- my adopted dad beating the crap out of my mom and knocking us kids around.
Being raped
Being emotionally abused.
Watching my Mom get a gun put to her head and had to watch as her life was threatened by my great adopted dad.
These all came in my dreams last night.
WHO or WHAT are your MONSTERS? WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU DREAM ABOUT THEM TO FEEL BETTER? Hugs to you all. I KNOW there are some of you out there and most people will just want to read this then move on and say nothing thats okay because i got balls to say whats going on. I am not alone-

I don't know what it is but I'm terrified of it and it's always chasing me through someplace dark. The last time it was a dark barn that went on and on and on.

I told myself in the dream to wake up and I narrowly escaped capture.

Yes, your dealing with Monsters from your abusive Past. It is good that you are aware of that. That puts you on a path to Healing.

Time helps me. I had a couple intense/bad dreams that I still think about today, I remind myself they were dreams, that what they depicted has not happened or has happened in the past, is not happening now.

Sounds like you are dealing with post traumatic stress dreams and that could be good/helpful to you in your waking life: Dreams Ease Effects of Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - ABC News

I remember when I use to have continuous anxiety dreams every night in my late 20's/30's but then I realized having such chaotic dreams helped me be more "together" and function during the day.

Finding caring friends and loved ones helped me too, and my sense of humor. . .

Who or what are you Monsters when you sleep?

First off thank you all for responding... I know its not that interesting of a subject but some of us do deal with it. Yes I do think it is things from my past and I have a lot of things going on in my life right now. Working full time, college full time, I see a therapist, anger management, psychiatrist, Group therapy, marriage counselor, take care of the household. The list doesnt end. It is almost time for finals for school and last minute projects so I think stress is a main factor in the nightmares happening at this time. Thanks guys...I knew I wasnt alone HUGS!

I don't know what the significance of this thing chasing me is. It feels like it's something ethereal from a previous incarnation.

Do not over load yourself, time now to ease up and reduce stress. Over loading is a way you cope with those Monsters in real life.

You are not alone! I think when I have awful nightmares, disturbing dreams etc. that I am actually in the process of digesting negative situations that I have encountered. After all that dreaming is done, maybe I am a better person who has finally processed all that crap? Dreams are like eating. What is stored in your mind will be hashed out in its entirety until the truth of the matter has settled in your heart. Let the dreams come, let the dreams go, and they will take with them the uncertainty that is harbored in an unconscious soul.
