Here's a dream that I had that is mysterious to me:

I was sitting along a river fishing. My family left me there to go do something so I was alone. I pulled up the line out of the water and I realized that I had no bait on the hook. I thought, "Maybe I could catch a fish and use some of the meat as bait? Or maybe my family will bring something edible so I can put it on the hook?"

While I was wondering this, I went into a trance in the dream and went through a cosmic tunnel- similar to the kind that people who experience near-death encounters describe. I was sucked through this vortex that took me into the sky.

Suddenly, I 'heard' a voice like telekinesis say "What do you want it to say?" and then within a split second, stars rolled out like a tablecloth in the sky from right to left and spelled out "Congratulations!" Then I was back in my body beside the river and I still had my fishing pole in my hand, wondering what just happened. Then my family returned.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Wow! That was an awesome dream! I am the last person to analyze dreams, sorry!but I am always happy when I dream because they are a break from my real life.

Yours sounds magical and lovely and like you would feel happy in it. Were you? Maybe that's all it is, your subconscious finding a happy place, like the starfish in Finding Nemo!?

Thanks NW! Well, while in my life here my career as a writer is really taking off, and my life has changed SO MUCH since my brother committing suicide in 2009. I don't know if that's relevant to this dream but it did leave me wondering what this could mean. Thanks for considering me NW! Luv u! Yours truly, Lightbulb7Seven

I'm just been dialoguing with Thunder Bow, a member of this forum, about the Vision Quest. You are left alone and have a cosmic experience--sounds a lot like a Vision Quest.

Stars saying congratulations has as interesting feel to it. It feels a bit like a game show. It doesn't quite fit with a cosmic experience. So there is this transformation taking place in you, I think, associated with experiencing the cosmos, but there is some other quality to it that makes it pat. Maybe you have a real potential for uniting with the cosmos, but you have some need in yourself to interpret the experience in a certain way rather than a truer perception of what happens.

Is there a way in your life right now that you are pursuing spiritual experience?

Absolutely, I am open to the cosmos and all it "he" "they" have to offer. I am an open minded person in general and I welcome any wisdom from beyond. Could this be acceptance or invitation? I wonder. Thanks for your consideration MIke!

I think it must show you are having experiences of the grandeur of the cosmos, but what do you think about the stars saying "congratulations"? To me, that is distinctly different than a cosmic experience, and what I mean is this. To sit under the stars is often to experience the cosmos as something impersonal. Grand, beautiful, and very often experienced as magical or powerful, but one doesn't think of the stars as wanting to write out a word for you. They communicate on a different level than that.

So that is what stands out for me. The dream might be saying something about how you think about the cosmos. How you "conceptualize it" as Zen Buddhists might say. There is a possibility that you would experience it as something even more powerful if you didn't use words with it.

Can you describe some spiritual experiences you've had in your waking life?

Thanks for the honor of considering your dream,
Mike

Congratulations! You no longer use Hooks to "Hook" people, you don't "Bait" any one any more. A positive Dream.

Can you describe some spiritual experiences you've had in your waking life?

Sure, I have had many. Most recently, In August 2012, I was sitting on my front porch about 3:00 a.m. It was dark of course. I was in deep thought. Suddenly, white fire appeared before my eyes, and shot stratight for my feet. It didn't hurt. I sat there, amazed and bewildered. It was obviously there, and I can't explain this situation at all. I don't know why this happened to me, but it was wonderful. Also, when I was 17, a cloud surrounded me and a voice like a trumpet said "You will be a Country Western Singer". Then the same thing happened later that day. A visible cloud covered me when I sat, and the voice came once more, "You know who I am". I looked to and fro; behold: No one was there. At the time I was into alternative music (90's style) and it baffled me. I did not want to be a Country star lol.

One could immediately surmise that I was under some kind of psychosis. I can agree and also disagree. Since that time, I have written many country songs to make myself available so to speak. One of my songs was just chosen out of 4000 to be in the top 25 in a songwriting contest. This song literally fell out of the sky and all I did was copy it down. I heard the words clearly, the lyrics were complete; and it even came with a melody. As I stated before, I had not wanted to be what the voice said previously.

Here's the song: Don't you DARE mess with Texas! - Song lyrics Poetry - Texas, Song, Loyalty - Booksie

I hope I haven't scared anyone away lol, I would just like any insight available. Thank you!

So, sounds like the visions have given you some guidance. I'm curious about your associations to a vision of the word "congratulations." For instance, if that happened in real life, what would you feel about it? Would you associate it to anything specific you are doing right now? Don't think of this as interpreting the dream, but rather having very concrete, direct associations.

Well, I don't hear the word "Congratulations" very often aimed at me. But I do say it to other people when they have a victory, or accomplishment or when I am proud of them. I'm a pretty simple gal myslef and I haven't done much that others could say congratulations about I suppose. I am scheduled to sing my song before the judges on June 9, 2012 for the Houston Songwriter's association and I am excited and nervous. If I do my best, maybe they will say "Congratulations!" ? Or maybe I am making progress in some other area that I am not aware of, such as my mental health/growth. I appreciate all of your help Mike, thank you.

Hi Lightbulb7Seven,
I do think that dreams tell us things that we aren't aware of need to be more aware of, so now that you describe your associations to the word "congratulations," perhaps your unconscious is telling you that you've had accomplishments or you are proud of yourself on some level that you aren't usually consciously aware of. Whatever kind of accomplishment you say that word to other people about, it seems your unconscious is saying it to you.

Today I received a letter in the mail from the Houston's Songwriting Association. It reads: "Congratulations! Your submission has been selected!" On June 9th, I will no longer be singing my song before the judges. I will be singing my song before an audience. A check for $18,000 has been issued with my name on it. I am shocked.

In hindsight, I feel the dream's meaning to me was such:

1.) I was attempting to nourish my family (fishing)

2.) I was unable to catch a fish (find success for my family) with no bait (failure at my attempts to become successful in writing and singing)

3.) Something happened that changed the way I was pitching my line (I started entering contests and receiving feedback on my vocals and music meanwhile taking every opportunity legitimately offered to me)

4.) Something or someone knew this, perhaps my subconscious, which the dream seems to have foreshadowed the coming events somehow.

Thoughts? I am pretty excited as the days have unfolded such surprises. I have never had anything like this happen and I am nervous and grateful. What should I do next? Maybe a new dream will be dreamt and I will let yall know! Thanks for the support everybody!

Sometimes I think dreams are less literal than that. But I don't know in this case. For example I had a dream in which I was fascinated by graphic arts equipment. But I don't think that means I'm going to switch careers into the graphic arts. It stands in for beauty or psychological creativity in general.

I wonder if your "congratulations" dream has meaning on more than one level. For instance, congratulating you on maturing emotionally.

I agree Mike. It does seem strange lol, but it would be difficult for me to dissociate the dream from the recent events entirely although I can also see it through that lens. I suppose when I opened the letter and saw that word "Congratulations", my mind flashed to the dream. I have recently, within the last few years, made leaps and bounds away from a more or less immature perspective on humanity, differences of character, judging others, and a host of other concepts. I do realize this growth and I can correlate it fittingly with the message of the dream. Thanks Mike!

P.S. If I hadn't recorded the dream here before this happened in my life, I would have continuously doubted that it ever happened and been tempted to shut it out entirely for fear of grandiose thinking lol, so I'm glad it happened in this order.
