it seems like for years I've never had normal sleeping patterns. Last night I didn't go to bed until 3:20 am, and I set my alarm for 12:30 pm- which seems like that would be more than enough sleep. I woke up to my alarm but still felt really tired, so I went back to bed and woke up at 3:20 pm

Lately I've been sleeping a lot, and sometimes if I don't go back to sleep for longer periods of time I feel tired all day. I can sleep for 11-12 hours a night and it just makes me feel more rested and energized.

I'm really messed up because I oversleep all day, then I can't go to bed until early in the morning.

anyway I rambled a lot, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas why I always feel like I need tons of sleep?

The more sleep you get the more tried you are. Pretty simple. Try to cut down your sleep to 8 hours a night and you will notice an improvement. Bad sleep habits can cause big problems so get it under control asap.
